New wipers from dealer

First oil change? Can I ask how old the wiper blades were? I typically change mine every 10 years or so. Our maverick is 3 years old and the blades work fine, curious if there was a factory defect...

10 years!?!?! Do you park your vehicle in a hypobaric chamber lol? I would think a even after 10 years in a garage the rubber would be dry rotted and useless.

I wash mine once a year with dishsoap and then dress with a rubber preservative.

I wipe mine off every once in a while with just a damp cloth. Three years in and still working just fine.

I too am an advocate of Aero wiper blades. Installed about a year ago and still doing the job. You get a replacement set along with the full wiper blade set. $20 bucks and free shipping.

Well apparently I'm picky because I insist on once a year replacement although my eyes do see literally everything!

I'm pretty picky too and try to keep the windshield spotless. Of course bugs have another idea about that, especially the ones that aim for my line of sight.

I am at 45 months on my OEM wipers on my 2022 hybrid maverick. Still working fine but I do use RainX complete. And use wipe with wash at least once a week. In summer will immediately wash wipe with every bug splat before it dries.

Well I must be insanely particular, just reading 45 months made me cringe lol but everyone has their own preferences

GOOD wiper blades were always hard to come by when I lived on OR and CO. They would wear out or mess up in less than a year. The factory blades last the longest, for some reason. Now that I live in coastal CA and HI, I can't remember the last time I had to replace the wiper blades. I did have to put a new 12" rear blade on the Fiat this year, but the original one was 10 years old...

That said, I found that the thicker "winter" blades would last the longest before streaking. I'm talking about blade edge thickness, not the surrounding support rubber and plastic. I could never afford them, but was intrigued by the silicon blades, but I suspect they wouldn't be very good for slush and ice. I think that compliant compound would be excellent for just rain.

Wipes glass clean doesn't chatter or skip or streak. I blame success on weekly wash wipe plus immediately after bug splatter before drying so don't have to razorblade dry bug off windshield. Helps keep rainX protection on glass wipers don't touch. I would prefer to have spray without wipe option to help rainx to soak on glass a minute if desired. I do only get particular if wiper skips or misses something.

Yeah, a lot of people never clean the actual wiper blades often. That helps a lot.

Yep never touch wiper blade, it will result in uneven wear. If dry bug wears a spot on edge or you wear down a spot in some way cleaning it, streaking can happen. Maybe reversing the rubber will provide exact straight edge maybe not. May need new one.

Living in the Mojave Desert (Las Vegas), there isn't much heat, but summers are hot & arid and full of UV.

I've stopped changing "blades". Instead, when it comes time, I replace the driver side blade, and move the old one to the passenger side.

I rejoice when I actually get a second rain of use out of my new wiper a couple of months later! (but that isn't most changes).

The sun is also brutal on tires here--the sidewalls normally go to UV dry rot before tread is even an issue.
