Factory tires were getting bald (at 22k!).

Got, upon MTC recommendation, Michelin Defender 2's in 235/65/R17.

I like this size much better. Road noise seems lower in pitch. Most road noise at highway speed is wind.

So far, so good.

BTW, I had one of the four continentals that was newer with plenty of tread left. I had a nail in the sidewall, so put on a new one. I had them fit the new one to a steel rim and now have an (actual) full size spare. 👍👍

The tires wore out quickly.

Was there any warranty coverage for the original tires?

what tire pressures did you maintain?

I agree, they wore quickly.

I did not purchase warranty on tires.

I think it fills out the wheel wells nicer than stock. I think the word, for look and feel, is substantial.

Wow yeah they definitely fill out the wheel wells nicely. I am probably going to do the same size when I eventually need new tires.

Can you post back in a few weeks about mpg difference if you notice any please?

I can. Although, I'm not sure it'll be much more than anecdotal. I just had the power cable recall done. Wouldn't surprise me if that gets slightly less mpg. That and it's been 107 every day for the last couple weeks. (The battery doesn't charge well when it's that hot)

Resurrecting this to see if you have experienced any MPG difference? I had the same change made yesterday, got the same new tires. I haven't had a chance to drive it enough to speak to any MPG change. Definitely a different road-feel, they feel more solid.

I am getting Michelin CrossClimate2's installed Thursday. The Defender 2's were on my list as well. Both great options, but I am in Michigan. All weather performance/safety is the most important.

I am sticking with factory 225/65R17 size. I have 9k miles and 3 seasons on the continentals, so I have good MPG comparison data that I will post as I record my fill-ups.

Lifetime mileage is listed below, currently 38.9MPG. As long as I can stay above 35MPG long term I will be happy.

Dealer should replace tires and prorate milage based on OEM milage warranty if you rotated at 4-5k milage interval. But would have to replace with FORD OEM 45k warranty VERSION. In my case 225/60/r18 Michelin primacy Ford OEM (not with Toyota OEM version Nor with after market 55k warranty VERSION. (YES Michelin custom makes primacy tires for different auto mfg specs)! Michelin website says if you need to replace one tire you should replace with same original version! Also uneven tread depth will increase tread wear presumably because of modern cars attempting to equalize revolutions per mile on all tires to help stability issues.

Did the size change mess with your speedo?
