I assume you've verified that the USB ports on the Maverick are operating correctly (for example, phone charges when connected). Reason I mention this is that Android Auto stopped working on my Mav a couple of months ago, and I figured out that neither the USB-A or C ports were active .

I suspected a loose connection, so I pulled on the USB module (which I had read somewhere would pop right out). The module didn't come out, but I heard a relay click, so I turned on the truck and tested the USB ports. They both worked, as did Android Auto. So far, everything has continued to work.

You sure you're using a USBC cable and not a USB-A cable?

Using the usb-c that came with the phone. Originally tried my other cables but finally ended up on this one but still not working.

Have you turned mobile data on in your phone settings? Maybe even roaming data on? But that may cost.
ETA: the moto g 2024 needs a high speed data cable. I know you have said you have tried different cables....
Yeah I triple checked all these things. Mobile data is on roaming is on and I'm using the high-speed cable that came with the phone.

Found this response in a reddit post reply from Motorola support.
We apologize for the inconvenience that you have experienced. Your Moto G 5G 2024 doesn't connect with Android Auto. Let me assist you with your concern.

  • Check USB Settings: Ensure that your phone's USB connection mode is set to "File Transfer" or "MTP" when connected to the car.
  • Update Android Auto App: Make sure you have the latest version of the Android Auto app installed on your phone.

Different issue than yours, I think, but I had this problem once with my Motorola phone and it turned out that I had my "Do Not Disturb" on. I had "Do Not Disturb" set to automatically come on at 11 pm and off at 7 a.m.. But I was making an early trip at 6 a.m. and forgot that my "Do Not Disturb" was on. I was using a wireless dongle at the time, so it wouldn't connect to the bluetooth until I turned "Do Not Disturb" off. A few months back I got rid of the Motorola MA1 wireless Android dongle and put in a cheapo Chinese clone that works better and has suffered no drop offs or failure to connect issues that constantly plagued my Motorola MA1 wireless. So now that the Chinese are listening in, you know you make a better product than Motorola. Ha.

OP: Make sure Bluetooth is on in your phone and works with your truck. Even though you connect to AA using a USB-c to USB-c cable, it still uses Bluetooth during connection. Also check Bluetooth Permissions in Settings and enable the desired Permissions, like allowing the truck to view Contacts, make phone calls, etc.

Yeah... I've done all this. I appreciate all the help. But not my first rodeo. Have always been able to connect. Just not with this new phone. I've got all the settings right. In fact my wife (identical phone) connected no problem. I'm on hold with tech support now.

This greatly narrows down the possible causes.

Have you tried just switching your phone with your wifes? Without her knowing, obviously. It'd be a lot of work with all her contacts and e-mail sign in stuff, but you have 100% chance of fixing your problem. ;)

She might have a problem then, but if you play dumb, you just might be able to pull it off. 😜

Come to think on it I had connection problems because I had "exact location" turned off.

Oh no! This is where in other threads someone starts a poll = can he do this? Or not.

He can. It's should he?

Depends on how perceptive she is and whether he can cook on his own, if needed. :sneaky:

Not gonna say this didn't cross my mind. But I won't do it. According to everything I've done with moto tech support it looks like they're gonna make me send the phone to them for repairs. I've owned it 2 days. I figured they'd just replace it but no.
