I was using WAZE with my Carplay. There are some good GPS Apps out there WAZE just being one of them. I hear Google Maps is good also. May phone and Carplay worked just fine before the TCU module fix.
I have Carplay working now without the USB cable and connected the Mav to a cellular router just to play on the trip. Seems little value added to having the vehicle connected to a WiFi AP.

Yes Carplay as awesome. I might consider skipping the pay services after trial as Carplay is so handy.

As to the status of my ride's modem, it magically came back to life 3 days before the service appointment. Been solid since now another week later and 365 miles on the clock.

So canceled the service appointment and just riding the MavWave until something else upsets the 4 ft long apple cart that I keep in the bed.

Timeline recap...purchased 12-20, modem dead 12-29 (120 miles), called FordPass folks 1-5, CRS diagnosed it as a dead modem, made service appointment for 1-19 (Grrrr), got it moved up to 1-12, Modem came back to life on 1-9 (4 days after all the Ford Pass CSR testing), fine since then. No idea why it died or how it was resurrected.
