Why get a phone holder. Get a wireless fob for your carplay or Android. Your phone will automatically hook up to your phone wirelessly. It will display maps, audio input, and anything else you need. Put ur phone away!
1. Some things cannot be done on Android Auto/Car Play and require the phone. My job's calling app is one of them.
2. The phone gets much better and consistent signal both cellular and GPS when mounted on the dash as opposed to sitting under it or in a cup holder.
3. I tried the Motorola wireless AA adapter and it worked great... until it started flaking and died. My wife's did the same. I'd rather not buy a $60 accessory every year. USB always works and doubles as a spare charging cord if I'm in a pinch.
4. When charging and using AA/CP, there is much less chance of putting stress on the USB-C port of the phone and/or breaking off the cable when it is securely in a mount.

Neat. Get the mount you want and ignore everyone else. It's your truck.

That said, I'm definitely in club "plug it in and throw it under the console" as CarPlay handles everything for me.

Daumn, I got mine labor sale last year was around 50.00 for the mount and holder w free shipping.

They're spendy, but worth it.

I get mine with the power cord attached. It costs more but it’s more convenient.

I just use the spot Ford put in the console. If I forget my phone when I get out then it's a win win. Nothing but retailers emails and texts from people about crap I don't care about anyway.
I need my phone for work. If I leave it in my truck i can’t retrieve it for almost 2 weeks. Customers would not be able to contact me.

Before retirement I needed mine also. May I ask why you would be without it for 2 weeks? When i was doing field service work I could be gone 2 weeks at a time so if I left it in the car at the airport I would have been in the same predicament. But I always carried the work phone on my belt so that didn't happen. That is a good looking mount and I understand the falling off of the magnet ones when going over bumps. That would drive me insane.
Truck driver. Once I leave out I’m out on the road 12 days. Some customers track you by your phone’s location plus l may need to contact them for directions or delivery information or they may need to contact me for updates on their freighs location if they can’t track the phone.

I am curious why folks mount their phones. I put mine on the cradle on the console and it connects with a wireless dongle and everything is on the trucks screen. What is the advantage of mounting the phone?

I've always mounted my phones so I can see the Google Maps clearly without having to take my eyes off the road.

If you physically connect your phone to your Maverick, it displays Google Maps on the screen.

Yeah, I don't really like plugging and unplugging my phone every time I get in/out of the truck.

I have one like this that I bought for $5 at Ross. Clips onto the side of the cubby (pre-2025) and holds the phone where the one in this post does when you swivel the holder 90 degrees. The wide end goes in the cubby. Good option for those who do not want to spend the extra $ for extra bespoke.
