New noise - clicking sound when open the door...

Over the past 2 weeks I have developed a new noise a clicking sound when I open my drivers door - it started when I got open to full extension, but is now making it multiple times while the door opens. It appears to be coming from the door check and I worry about the door spot welds, like on the Escape doors - has anyone else had this noise and resolved it? Thanks...

Try putting some dry graphite lube on the door hinges

I had the same noise. I described it as "snicking", or a little "snap" when I threw the door open.

Being ridiculously lazy, I just stopped opening the door full stop. My theory, which I never bothered investigating (see the part about being lazy) is that some bolt needed tightening. I can see a support strut attached with a bolt.

I'll be curious when you identify and fix it.

it's the door spot welds. I got the noise immediately after a gust of wind caught my door while opening. I've already replaced the door check, didn't change anything. from the outside, spot welds look of to me but I can't see the inner cavity. I can't really think of a easy fix for this. The door itself needs metal panels spot welds drilled out just to get to the areas where you need new welds.

The Escape CSP 23B56 has them inspect the doors and either replace door(s) or install the reinforcement kit.

Welp, stopped and had body shop manager verify TWO broken welds!! Checking with Ford for coverage, lucky me I am 6 months past 3 years (even with ESP) -- sounds like I will be calling Ford if need be...Already need to call about the SSM update which was known before my 3 years was up, ask for Ford to cover my deductible...

Hello I have the same noise from my drivers door when opening the door all the way the ford dealership has told me that a spot wield is broken . The ford dealership has my 2025 maverick right now replacing the door I will post what happens when I get it back

Yes ford is taking care of it and I got rental car till I get my truck back .

From previous posts here it has been determined that the spot welds are holding and working as they should. The problem is the thin metal of the door is weak and it fails at the welds. Complete door replacement is the best fix, but if just replacing with another weak thin door, the problem will most likely return some day.
