I had safelite replace my windshield. Service was speedy. However after inspection. The tech scratched or chipped several areas. I get it's a truck...but someday I'd like to be the one causing the scratches.

Windshields are one of the worst things to get replaced, almost anxiety inducing.

They just dont GAF. Not centered, too much epoxy, not enough epoxy, scratched trims, broken trims, broken wipers, I've had it all happen to me.

I will never, ever use safelite again after what they did to us!
Had our windshield replaced in our Western Star. In the middle of the next trip we took it to a truck wash. They never sealed it. It was a giant waterfall down onto our dash and all over me. Blew out the entire electronic system of the truck!
How stupid do you have to be to place the windshield and never seal the entire top?

I think it has a lot to do with the tech you get. Mine was inexperienced or just didn't care.

Safelite glass is even softer than Ford's. Chips easier.

If you have a 2022 or 2023 Lariat with the heated windshield, be sure they replace it with the right one. The heated windshield looks like this.

Safelite replaced mine, didn't ask for OEM but I got a Ford replacement (with the heated windshield markings).
They did a great job on mine.

I had a crap experience with Safelite too, albeit with my focus. I took mine to the Safelite location, because there were no openings for mobile install. The tech doing mine smelled like something crawled up his ass and died. When I got in my car I wanted to barf. Oh, and it took them 3 hours to do it. I watched them destroy the dash of a Lexus prior to my car, and they had at least 2 other people in there complaining while I was there. That particular Safelite location was clearly a joke. Like many companies, some locations are better than others. Ford dealerships often have horror stories, because of crap management/employees.

Anyone whose had their windshield replaced willing to share the cost? My XLT Lariat Lux has about 10 million little chips from getting caught in a brief but intense sand storm and needs replacement but I just changed insurance companies and don't want my low rates changed. It is the "Quiet" windshield and I will look to see if it's heated but am willing to bet it is. Thanks.

FYI… the damage that’s done by an inexperienced or nonprofessional installer may not show up right away. Many may chisel (for lack of the professional term) the windshield out gouging the metal behind the windshield, this WILL eventually rust or corrode. Sometimes it good to watch the installation.
