New audio system...thoughts on these picks?

Considering installing this audio system in the Maverick Lariat Tremor, probably overkill but...

I heard this exact system in an associate's truck, ridiculously expensive, but the sound was phenomenal. Anyone had experience with this brand, worth the expense?

I don't have experience with the brand, but it could be the greatest sound ever and it wouldn't justify that price tag for me. I never really understood having a system like that in an otherwise normal car. You are still going to have the same amount of road and wind noise after all.

Of course this is all IMHO, but since you asked...

This is a ridiculous amount of money to spend. Even if you worked at Abt and got them for cost, that DSP alone is probably $800+. I didn't bother pricing out the other stuff, but even at cost, you're looking at $1200+ and that's not including installation/fabrication. If you're talking full retail, then you're absolutely insane. Lol.

The Maverick has too many hard touch points and not enough room for that level of equipment.

You won't get low end extension going with 8" subs, no matter how much power you throw at them - they need cubic feet and even if you fiberglass, you're going to be hard pressed to get the volume needed. Unless you are planning to remove the entire undertray under the rear seat to fiberglass and even then you'll have to go with one 12" subwoofer.

Your speaker selection is again going to be a waste of money. The Maverick does not have enough room for custom fiberglass kick panels (even fiberglass dash panels are realllllly pushing it) which is what you'd need for those components in order to get proper spatial separation.

Even with that magic DSP, there are just so many hard touch points and reflective surfaces... Also, the whole truck would need sound deadening.

It's just an effort in diminishing returns. But hey, if you've got the money, go for it!

I'm a huge audison fan, I actually almost got that exact dsp/amp combo. Definitely look around as they can be had for around as they can be had for 750 - 800 which isn't bad for a 8 channel amp and 14 channel dsp.

But you'll also need a mono block for the subs as you'll be using 6 channels for just the front 2 components and rear fill or 8 channels if you do want to do the 3 way vs 2 way.

But I wouldn't get the midranges unless you plan on having either pillars or sails made custom along with custom work on the dash to accept the midrange.

Sub wise, I would recommend getting a fiberglass box made along with 2 aps10 s4s for better low end compared to the 8. Which the ap 1D mono is perfect for as well and would plug in perfect to the m8.14

Now in my opinion I think you can get a better two way set for the money but that dsp/amp combo is hard to beat, only other brand I would trust dsp/amp combo is helix or mosconi, great software as well.

Sub wise I was actually really impressed when I heard the aps10 and the aps8

I'm a fan of full DSP amps. The value is in the tunability. The Tune is done by by a professional using calibrated mikes and spectrum analyzers. It can be made to sound however you like wherever you sit in the truck. If you skip this step, the system will not sound good.

The install could be rather uninvasive. The amp can be hooked up to factory head unit using a loop back back harness and all the wiring to the speakers reused.

The subs are powered by bridged channels on the amp which provide enough power to run these massive subs. A box would have to be built for them. There are some simpler options.

The midrange speakers are overkill in my opinion. There is no factory wiring or placement for them. They are more likely to make the system sound worse than better.

There are some way less expensive DSP amps. Just don't skip the tune.

I think you can do better than that for a sub and I agree the 3 piece fronts are going to require fiberglass door pods, and maybe that's not worth it.
