Using Ford Navigation in the Maverick, how do maps get updated? If Ford coded out access to navigation, updating maps is probably not supported either.
Our 2015 Edge had a SD card slot for updates. . . it's not hard to see why Ford dropped navigation and let third party providers fill in the gap.
We use a Garmin with lifetime maps.
Download it from Ford.com, but you're only allowed one "free" map update.

Only problem I have is when I have my iPhone plugged in I can’t access my USB flash drive to play music. So what I do is start music playing from my flash drive then plug iPhone in to the usb-c port.
You can use USB C flash drives thats what I do. and then the usb A slot is where I plug in my phone for CarPlay.

@Silver23 I currently am looking into a way to enable Nav in Motion on Canadian Mavericks too!
Should be able to change the country codes. My F150 was originally from Canada and had to change country code in my APIM and ACM for my SiriusXM and a few other items.

Does this work with Android Auto as well, or does it only work with the factory Ford Navigation?

I am not sure because I have no way to test it. I would assume it's just for the factory nav. Are there driver restrictions for android auto/CarPlay?

I just bought a lightning- usb C cable for phone as I’ve got 10-15 usb flash drives with different music on them. Works fine as long as I start playing music before plugging in iPhone. If I plug in phone first the iPhone screen covers up the button to get to music, may be a way to get to it I just haven’t researched it. I just do music access first then plug in iPhone.

Yep, just listened to 4 hours of George Strait, Tanya Tucker and Eagles on a trip from West Memphis to El Dorado Arkansas. Did that in my wife’s Explorer limited so not just a Mav thing. And yes the Explorer has Ford Navigation but I prefer navigation on iPhone.

I sang along with the music and I think I sound a lot like George. But my wife says it’s more like a cat whose tail got caught under the rocker of a rocking chair.

Probably something I did (wrong), but I made the two changes that EONR24 started this thread with, and my MPH icon on the navigation screen changed to the European Red Circle, so I reverted back. MY24 Lariat Hybrid, SYNC 3. I tried this three times with the same result each time.

I have updated my maps twice with Ford Nav, I just go to the Ford website periodically and check for Sync or Map updates. if there is one I Download it to a flash drive and Follow instructions to plug it into the USB port and it uploads.
so far the two map updates have been free. once they try to start charging for them, is when I will stop updating them.

@Silver23 and I were able to figure out how to enable Nav in Motion for SYNC 3.4 on Lariat Mavericks! This removes the Navigation and USB Driver Restrictions that stop you from making changes while driving. (AKA the Nav nanny system)
This did not work on my 1 month old Lariat with Sync 3.4.23188.
I am sooooo disappointed! ☹
Update: And now all of sudden it IS working! I am sooooo happy! 😀 It didn't work yesterday, even after 3 complete stops/shutoffs and restarts. Today it works. Weird. I do now have the Euro style round speed signs in navigation, and the language is set to UK English. But I can live with that.

[Warning: Rant] I realize the "Nav Nanny" is the fault of the lawyers (that Ford hired) and not Ford themselves, directly.
But I am super pissed about just how buggy the Sync3 software is. Ford needs to take some programmers out back and shoot them. I upgraded to a Lariat mainly for the upgraded stereo. I am mostly happy with the vehicle itself but the crappy stereo has really soured the experience of having a new vehicle for the first time in 30 years. My old Ranger had a super cheap Chinese generic Android-based head unit which was painfully slow and had many many quirks and yet it still was waayyy better than this #$%&@ Sync3. I listen exclusively to music from USB with 80,000 songs (80GB) meticulously organized and tagged in 280 playlists. It's bad enough that I or a passenger cannot choose another playlist while moving but more often then not I get "Browsing not available" even when stopped. In attempt to mitigate the media indexing problem I purchased a NVMe flash drive and a USB 3.2 case for it. It has a sustained transfer rate of 8.2Gb/s and <1ms latency. But it hasn't helped. And I've tried multiple brands, models, and sizes of flash drives. I've turned off indexing and deep sleep in FORScan. No luck.
Using voice commands is not an option when your media collection is that big and has many similar named playlists. And yet I've seen posts (and complaints!) from people who's media library is far bigger than mine.
Then there is the matter of it glitching and dropping out for 1/10 second during USB playback, and it occasionally locks up for over an hour and won't play anything from USB. And I can't believe it doesn't support gapless playback-- even the most basic media players can do that nowadays.
