We currently have two Mavericks. Mine is a 22 FX4 with 2-inch Eibach lift and 245/70/17 AT tires. I'm averaging about 23 mpg on that setup in mixed driving.

My wife's is a stock 23 Tremor. She's averaging more than 24 mpg in mixed driving over the first 2,000 miles.

Bottom line: fuel economy between the two trucks is basically a wash for you. I would base your decision on finances and personal preference.

FWIW, the Tremor DOES drive nicer than the FX4. The suspension is terrific and I swear Ford pumps fake engine noise into the cabin because it sounds way meatier than my FX4 even though the engines are identical.

You are going to like the Tremor...

Ford does pipe engine noise in at least for tow/haul mode in the Tremor - not sure about other modes but the Texas Truck guys have a blip in their hill climb video about it.

Pretty certain it's even in normal mode, as there is a very obvious difference in the way our trucks sound.

The fake engine noise on the Tremor is
surprisingly realistic.

Yeah they've been doing it for a number of years with the EB mustangs and as you've noted, it actually is surprisingly okay. Funny but okay haha.

I have a 2022 XLT FX4. I ordered a 2023 Tremor XLT because I really wasn't sure my 2022 would ever get delivered. My 2022 ended up showing up at the end of October 2022, so I got to drive it for a few months before the Tremor arrived in February of this year. I ended up passing on the Tremor. I hated to do it, but I wasn't going to make enough on the 2022 to make the hassle of buying another vehicle worth it. I would have come out ahead, at least on paper, but not enough that I wanted to deal with it. It really helped that I love my 2022.

I'm toying with the idea of ordering again this year but I think I will probably hold off and see what 2025 brings. The only features I really feel like I am missing from my 2022 (other than the Tremor features) are adaptive cruise, push button start, and SYNC 3. If those become available on the XLT there might be an XLT Tremor in my future. As much as I would like to have them they are not worth the price increase to the Lariat IMO.

FWIW my overall MPG after 5000 miles is 23.1 MPG (calculated at the pump, not using the trip computer). My best trip on the highway netted me 30 MPG. I have to take my youngest son to school every day during the school year so my overall MPG has taken a hit from the stop and go driving. I basically do that and take the Maverick on trips. I have a take home vehicle for work, so I don't drive the Maverick to and from the office.

I am not going to guess at something I do not know, but I have looked at numerous posts on Tremor mileage and it appears to be considerably lower. If you are happy with what you have, keep it; if not, sell it and get Tremor. Worst part would be to get rid of something you KNOW you like to buy something you HOPE you will like.
Compare it to a Hybrid, yes the mileage difference is significant. He owns an FX4 where the difference in MPG is insignificant...

If mileage is your BIG THING then don't get an Ecoboost. If you want to have fun off road, or head out to the sand, mud, and snow, etc. then the Tremor's the ticket...

The Tremor arrived yesterday. Just need to clean mine out and get the paperwork done. What color should I do the new claw marks in? Is the Tremor appearance decals black? Or are they a grey? It's hard to tell with all the transit dust

My Tremor dilemma just became over complicated (in a good way)!

Long ago - my whole plan was to get an XL Hybrid and a 2 door base sasquatch. Ford made me call multiple audibles along the way.

My 2 door turned to a 4 door - and then my wife and kids loved it and wanted a Black Diamond over a base. So we sold the BaseSasquatch and got back in line for MY23, but my dealer said because I sold my first one I'd wait until the other orders get built before I get any priority.

Maverick XL Hybrid didn't get built in 22. Re-ordered in 23. Then changed to a Tremor when they said Hybrids weren't going to get built.

Fast forward to today and my Tremor sits somewhere between Canton, MI and Columbus, OH.

I was leaning into buying it until......

This happened this morning.

What this means it that I will likely only be owning my Tremor for anywhere between 6-8 weeks until my (beloved) Bron2o arrives!!!!

I have a similar story. Ordered in 2021 XL 4K 400 W. Got tired of waiting after 15 months ,so went to a different dealer and ordered a XLT Tremor . The 2021 order came in as a 2023 after 17 months . Now the Tremor is being built on the 08/22/23 . I was on the fence a bit about giving up the 4 K tow . But as more information comes out about the tremor ,I am going to be taking it . Same motor and transmission ,better PTO trans ,and same gearing as 4K . I cant see how it would hurt it to tow 4 K once in a while . I curranty have a 2 inch lift and Toyo A/T tires ,so cant also see how gas milage could be much different. Last plus is the dealer has offered me 2 grand more then I paid ,but I have to put it back to stock . Good luck to you .

If the Tremor mpg is 10 mpg lower. Maybe think about it. Anything less is nothing to worrying about. . 2 mpg is nothing.. Driving 5 mph over the speed limit does that, or one hard acceleration.

Tremor is not any lower mpg that a non-Tremor on real all-terrain tires.

I had a '22 FE ecoboost awd which came with the same tires the Tremor does, 235/65-17 Falken Wildpeak AT3W. I traded it (for a very modest profit) to a dealer for my current '22 ecoboost awd 4k tow truck. Despite the slightly reduced gearing in the 4k truck, it gets about 2-3 mpg better than the FE ever did and to me the only meaningful difference is the tires. I did 5K miles on the FE and have almost 19K on the current truck, so this isn't just one drive.

I actually have the same dilemma, but a bit worse. I have a XLT lux Tremor in production right now and my '22 is a Lariat lux. I ordered the Tremor thinking that I wouldn't need ACC, but over the last 19K miles I have really come to enjoy ACC. I can make some money trading for the Tremor but the interest rates are higher now. (My '22 is 3.9%.)

Plus, I ordered Avalanche Grey and on the one hand, I'm glad I did if it's a one-and-done color for Maverick Tremors. (Gone in MY24 if you didn't know.) On the other, I almost ordered the Tremor with Cactus Grey because... CG is better! Avalanche is nearly a shade of off-white in bright sunlight.

I'm not ordering a MY24 because they still aren't offering a ST or anything with more power. If I get the Tremor I might be driving it a while. I have followed the ACC hacking threads and I doubt I'd go through the effort and take on the liability of bolting ACC onto the XLT Tremor.

I'll probably just walk away from the Tremor. The sales tax is going to be something like $3k, plus at least a month of insurance, $600 for registration... yeah, lucky to clear a grand if I resell it for $5k markup. But the reason for this reply is I'm still considering trading for it. :)

Time to start off-roading and going on long distance trips. I doubt you can put enough miles and wear and tear in 6 to 8 weeks so live it up

Between the lack of ACC, downgrade in other features, switching costs (registration, etc.), higher interest rates... I'd personally pass on it, too.

So here is my dilemma, last January I ordered a 22 FX4 4k XLT and have loved it and put 20,000 miles on it since getting it last April. I ordered a 23 XLT Tremor last September when the order banks opened. The Tremor got built this week and shipped. What should I do? The valve of my 22 seems higher then I was thinking. I do really enjoy my FX4 and have been happy with the milage too. Is the Tremor going to be much lower on MPG or will I not notice?
IMG_9318.jpeg
Same situation! I currently own a 2022 FX4 in cactus gray with 12 K miles. My black Tremor just got scheduled for an August build. I have had zero problems with my FX4 and have never gotten stuck in Baja. However, the choice is easy for me as I spend much time off-road in the sand and truly enjoy upgraded audio in my vehicles. Having an upgraded off-road suspension and a B&O stereo is all it took. Plus-I will get everything I paid for the truck back in my trade! My mileage has never been great in my FX4, and I am always surprised by the quotes here. I run slightly larger tires, but my baseline is 32 on the highway and almost 20 in town. I can't imagine the Tremor being much less than that, but either way, I am excited to make the trade. Good luck with your decisions.

Thanks- Love hearing this- exactly as I suspected- My Tremor is being built this month!
