I agree that touch screens are a pain. Having typed that, consider all the buttons, switches and knobs they replaced. The dash would look like an early fighter jet's cockpit.
But maybe we do not need all that info anyhow.
I believe, that best way to live with it, is to set the controls ,as you want, them while parked.

Just my opinion.

Not my cup of tea, I keep my climate controls in Auto and use voice recognition to set the temp, but that's a neat solution for people who need or want solid switches for climate controls.

How about a grid of 500-700 buttons in clear transparent plastic and you can push the button that is over the spot of the displayed screen button? Maybe include the "That was Easy!" Recording the staples easy button had".
Or, how about just a row for the 15 buttons at the bottom that never move?

🤦‍♂️

Too bad this is needed. BUT good idea .

Crazy idea put it back the way it was. My 2023 works great. Oh yea get rid of that ugly front end too.

Yea yea I get people now saying its no problems at all. Yea sure it isn't . Hence other car makers are adding back control buttons and knobs . Which I guarantee cost more. I watch tv show Motor Week and see many reviews and some are adding back control buttons and knobs.

https://www.ford.com/support/how-tos/search/using sync voice commands/#voicecommands

I hate voice commands as much as the next guy, but if my windshield's icing up in a bad storm and I don't want to take my eyes off the road, you can bet I'm hitting that button and telling the truck to set Max defrost.

Keep in mind that a short press on the voice assistant button brings up the truck's voice assistant (Sync 3 / Sync 4) and this one can set temperature, etc.
A long press brings up your phone's voice assistant (Siri / Android assistant / Gemini etc) which can't control temperature etc
Siri can order my coffee for pickup, so there’s that.

I found a low-tech solution to add some feel and responsiveness to the touchscreen A/C controls on a 2025.

I got some suction cup buttons designed to be used on your phone for games and cut off the suction cups. Then I got a glass screen protector for the maverick, marked where the buttons should be, and used a dremel with a diamond grinding bit to rough it up. Then I glued the buttons to the touchscreen using superglue. It might seem silly, but I've been finding it much more pleasant than the standard touchscreen.

My setup isn't perfect because I took the screen protector on and off a few times while trying to find the best solution for getting things to stick, so I figured it was worth posting to save someone else the trial and error.

Great idea. This might prove especially useful when wearing gloves in the winter.

Well, I am going to offer a different opinion. I think the touch screen on my 25 Maverick is the greatest thing since slice bread. I much prefer the touchscreen over physical buttons. This opinion is from a retired person in his late 60's. I think the touchscreen is a cleaner look and easier to manipulate. I also happen to enjoy new technology...one of my hobbies is building computers.

That is the wildest take I have ever heard, but damned if I don't admire it. As a professional computer boy (my username is actually a reference to the programming language c++) I don't trust a computer as far as I can throw it. I keep a handgun next to my printer as a threat to the thing in case it gets ideas.

That said, if I had to go back to mapquest printouts instead of android auto I would be heartbroken.

I had a HEX programming professor tells us that computers are the stupidest device on earth. And people who trust them come in second. To prove his point he pointed out that a coputer can be programmed to render itself unusable.
Amen, In good old days I optimized code written usually in cobol but did not really matter. I scanned compiled code for certain sequences and replaced with code which would run quicker. (Gotta write really carefully and be sure registers are restored to expected values when through).

Don't forget FIFO. I took 2 classes of programming and decided software was not my cup of tea. But it was enough to help me later with editing MCL (machine control language I was told) in the field.
I have a AAS in Electronic Tech. (1990) I started a BA in Computer Science but dropped out after a class programming on a DEC PDP-11 mainframe. I finished the class but asked the teachers why they were not teaching on a desktop computer. He said he was too close to retirement to rewrite the syllabus for the class. The PDP-11 was only used for that class.

It is indeed very silly. But also cool!

Heh, triggering me  they were tryna teach me Pascal on a VAX in 1992, claimed the vax cluster was near enough eternal and in use "everywhere" in 1993 profs had Pentium 60s on their desks and were saying it was better than having the vax all to yourself, in 1994 I dropped back in for some paperwork and the VAX were gone and I never saw one again. Thanks dudes, and for insisting I learn Lotus 123 and WP as "industry standard" 3 years into Word/Excel takeoff.
