My Maverick hauling a 13 foot kayak!

Lol. My fishing kayak is an Old Town Sportsman 106. It is 10.5’ long.

just picked up the wife’s Perception Pescador Pro 12 this afternoon. We bought a Boonedox T-Bone extender.

How’s the 106 fit? I’m buying a passport 10.5 this week.

I have a 12.5 foot Perception Acadia that has been hanged out the back of my Chevy Colorado for the last ten years. Have no idea if there is a limit in New Jersey, but have never been pulled over and have never decapitated anyone that I know of. I go with and will be going with lots of bungee cords in the Maverick and have never had any trouble so far. I tie an old sweat sock on the end .

Yikes! I have a 10.5 Passport, have yet to take it out in the Mav...definitely need a bed extender.

I think you’ll be fine. I use an extender but not necessary with the 10.5

Sorry, haven't tried the 106 yet. It's still in storage. We haven't even tried to load both kayaks in the bed. But given how easily the 12 foot Pescador fit. The 106 shouldn't be a problem. To load two kayaks will probably require one to lean up against the other, they won't be able to lay flat side by side.

Now just have to figure out how to transport my one piece fishing rods...longest rod is only 7'

I have a Hobie PA14. Havnt tried to fit it in my maverick quite yet though. I’ll have to give it a shot this weekend.

That looks awesome! Do you think it’s absolutely necessary? Just trying to minimize if at all possible. I’m used to a 6’ bed, getting used the Mav.

You could probably get by without the bed extender. Just be sure to tie some type of red flag on the end of the kayak as there will be a 3'6" overhang.
I use 2 ratchet tie downs in the bed that keeps it very stable.

Those plastic kayaks are heavy. Build a cedar kayak. The 14’ Petrel Play is designed for heavy surf and stable fishing. My build should be 35lbs when finished. Easy to lift that onto a Maverick overhaul rack.
