Curious to know how you still feel about XLT Luxury and co-pilot. Worth the extra cost? What did I get:
- XLT 2.0 EB - Area 51
- Equipment Group 300A
- FX4
- 4K Tow
- XLT Lux Package
- Co-Pilot
- Tonneau Cover
So finally drove the Mav a bit today. It does drive nice, like a car.
My comparison POV is from a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek. The ride comfort is about the same, maybe the Mav wins from a slightly longer wheelbase.
Handling the Mav feels more solid and responsive. I have noticed that the steering must be fly by wire. When you're sitting there it's easy to turn the wheel but as soon as you start to move the steering stiffens up a bit.
I'm disappointed with the rearview mirror - it's just too small for a vehicle like this. Not a bug deal to change but I'm a little surprised.
Pros:
- Drives like a car
- Great pickup/accelleration
- Transmission is smooth
- Wheel feels good in your hands
- No audio pause button on the wheel. I don't understand this, I almost 100% listen to podcasts or Spotify, let me pause my dam audio! (Crosstrek was the same)
- HUGE Head room - I'm 5'9" and I EASILY have >6" above me to the roof
- Comfortable seats
- Easy controls, but still learning all the menu items
- Surprisingly impressed with Android Auto (I have a Pixel 6)
- Love the active image that shows front/rear wheels getting power
- Infotainment: decent. 100% of my audio is either podcast, audio book, or Spotify and the system works pretty good. Controls are responsive for skipping or rewinding things via Bluetooth.
- Remote start, YES!
- Sunglass holder in the ceiling center console (nice)
- Gear shifter: First time I've had a dial, works pretty smoothly overall. No issues at all and it's pretty simple to get used to so you don't even need to look at it.
- Doors all feel solid - opening and closing them they feel "right"
- Color: Area 51 - looks better in person
- Backup camera is solid and there's an indicator of which direction you're turning in.
- Has both USB-A and USB-C plugs
Cons (these are not by any means deal breakers just interesting dings):
- Limited visibility out back (small rear view mirror)
- Automated windows (Up/Down) only the driver window is auto down. NO auto up. Are we really living in the stone ages?
- No push button start - this is starting to annoy me - curious if there's a solution to this.
- No audio pause button on the wheel. I don't understand this, I almost 100% listen to podcasts or Spotify, let me pause my dam audio! (Crosstrek was same)
- Remote Start, SUCKS - I can remote start it (good in real cold conditions I'm sure) but I STILL have to put the key in the ignition and turn it.
- Engine: I pulled up to a recycling center where they stand at your drive door and the guy asked me, Is that electric? My engine war running! I have not noticed any engine noise worth commenting on. Sure under hard acceleration, there's engine noise but for average driving, the engine is perfectly quiet..
General: Noise
Bed:
- Wind noise has been brought up by a few people....I haven't been on the freeway yet but driving on PCH in SoCal I can hit speeds of 70mph and compared to my Subaru there's no appreciable wind noise.

- Haven't removed soft tonneau cover yet
Milage:
- Sucks so far....BUT...I love at the top of a LARGE STEEP hill and with about 75 miles on it I'm averaging 18MGP. More time is needed on this though to really understand what a long term milage is. Also, local milage at my home is always going to suck due to said hill.
Misc:
- I'd like to tap into the USB system so I can have a stand that I can put my phone in and it connects to the system, like a docking station
