I have been cruising around the forums and I have to say this has been a fantastic resource. Wanted to get some feedback from you all about what was told to me on the phone by a ford representative when checking on my order.

Had usual questions most individuals probably ask when they have an unresponsive dealer. I then started asking about if I do not make this year for being scheduled, do I need to go visit the dealership to confirm I still want the order and is it possible to at that point move my order to a new dealer. This is where the conversation takes a nose dive and goes against everything I have seen on here and also at the ford guy ( yes...Ford needs to payroll him).

The ford customer service rep tells me I will automatically roll over and nothing needs to be done on my part. She tells me that if I were to consider changing dealerships I would likely incur a markup due to market conditions and that I would probably get a market markup on this current order with my dealership also. This definitely got me and I followed up with ford would allow this and this is how they treat their customers, allowing dealerships to pillage us?

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought Ford had worked with people to get their order switched to a new dealership for situations like this? Has anyone else experienced this: (1)being told you will need to pay more by ford customer service for market adjustments, (2) actually having a dealer market adjust due to ford not securing its supply chain well enough? To anyone saying well covid and market blah blah, let me stop you, its two and a half years of flatting the curve, adapt already. I am seriously waiting for other companies to start chewing into this market segment and put ford's supply chain out of its misery. Just cause ford can't get its garbage in line doesn't mean the customer should suffer anything more than a long wait (which we have); I am not the longest as I ordered in October. Sorry for typos writing on a phone.

Short-ish answer:

As of early this year any major change (and switching dealeships on an extant order is a major change, if it can be accomplished at all) will reset the calendar on your order date, which also resets the pricing to reflect what is in effect on that new date of order.

1. Ford doesn't care about you as a customer. Neither does the dealer. In fact, the dealer would rather lose your business.

2. Once an order is placed, it cannot be moved.

I suspect levers can be moved and buttons pushed in extraordinary circumstances - say, the person named on the order moves cross country. Likely not a full-on change of dealers but rather arrangements for a courtesy delivery to a new local dealer (which would not alter the dealer of record).

There has been no official response from Ford on whether MY22 orders that cannot be manufactured in MY22 will be automatically rolled over to a MY23 order.

Moving a MY22 order over to another dealer once the order has been placed with the original dealer is next to impossible.

Lastly, Fords customer service can be helpful at times but it's best to take the information they give you with a tiny pinch of salt.

Anything stopping someone from placing orders at multiple dealers? Benefits?

People did it this year, but now all MY 2022 ordering has been shut down.

I don't know how Ford will handle that next year, but it created problems this year. When someone orders from three dealers, but only plans to take delivery from one, that means the other two trucks go to dealers for retail instead of filling legitimate retail orders.

@fordvideoguy mentioned you would be able to make changes and not lose your timestamp. Colors, trims and options are all in play. I would expect Ford to charge the MY23 price for an option new option or premium color. The same would apply if it was a reoccurring option.

IIRC, he said transferring an order is a no go. I can see why it would be a mess for the Regional Scheduler when they try to allocate weekly scheduling slots.

Just for reference, here is how it worked for 2021 Bronco orders that got pushed to 2022.

https://thebronconation.com/2022-bronco-what-do-i-need-to-do-and-what-are-my-options/
That page has some interesting information for folks on here who (1) are worried about whether they might get an unexpected price increase at delivery, or (2) are convinced that dealers can't require a deposit. Here it is:
  • You need to agree to pricing with your dealer at the time of order entry with a signed purchase agreement and any required deposit.
Sounds like good advice to me...
