I bought my Ford Maverick Lariat truck about seven months ago and I have been enjoying it ever since. It is a great compact pickup that offers a lot of value and versatility. It has an engine that delivers good power and decent fuel economy. I get about 25.4 mpg on average, which is not bad for a truck. The truck also has a spacious and comfortable cabin, with plenty of features and technology. I like the 8-inch touchscreen, the wireless charging pad, the Bang & Olufsen sound system, and the Ford Co-Pilot360 assist package. The truck also has a clever bed design, with integrated slots for DIY accessories, a multi-position tailgate, and a 110-volt outlet. The bed can hold up to 1,500 pounds of cargo, which is enough for my needs. I have used the truck for hauling large wood planks and other materials, and the bed is very usable.

The biggest thing I don’t like about the truck is that the interior materials are not very durable. The ActiveX-trimmed seats look nice, but they get scratched and stained easily. The same goes for the dashboard and door panels, which are made of hard plastic. I wish Ford had used more premium materials for the Lariat trim, or at least offered some protection options. I have to be very careful not to damage the interior when I load or unload things from the bed or the cabin. One thing that really annoys me is that the seat belt buckle hits the door panel when I take it off, and it leaves scratches all over the place. I don’t know how to fix this problem, and it makes me sad to see my truck’s interior getting ruined.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to protect or repair the interior of my Ford Maverick Lariat truck, please let me know. I love my truck, but I hate seeing it get damaged by everyday use. Thank you for reading my review.

In ten years everyone is gonna be pulling these plastics and covering em with everything from high end leather and zebra print to burlap. It's what they did on the original Maverick. When I got mine someone had glued burlap on all the interior side plastics and spray painted it black lol! Found some replacement ones a UFO swap meet. The were blue so I painted em black and never bothered adding the burlap padding lol.

You do not want to use Aerospace. That is designed for vinyl, rubber, plastic, etc. The 303 Fabric Guard or something like the Gtechniq I1 or Gyeon Fabric Coat are better protective options for fabric surfaces.

I am about a year into my ownership (11k) miles and like you I love pretty much everything about the truck. It is a great vehicle at a great price and I really like the utility over the bed, organizer, etc.

My only two issues are the ease of scratching on the plastics and my brake pads/rotors had to be replaced due to a cracked pad and pitting. They were making awful noises and unfortunately still are.

Other than that I love the thing!

I might want to get on checking the brakes then soon. I am bamboozled as to how the interior material passed QC test such as scratch and mar, abrasion resistance..........

It's an entry-level cheap truck, made with cheap materials. IMO, the higher trim levels are just lipstick on a pig.
I would argue that instead of cheap materials it is poor design. There are definitely plastic materials out there that would perform better than what is in there for close to if not less than the price of what was used. I think this may have been a case where the studio was in love with the grain, and they could not achieve the detail they needed with other softer materials, so they were pushed to use very bad material.

I was thinking the same thing about the seat belt buckle. It goes unnoticed after a while until one day you see all those scratches. There must be some kind of rubber pieces that can go over the buckle. I may look online or may get a little creative with things I have in my garage.

The issue of having the seat belt beat up the side pillar is universal for virtually all autos. Even on my Caddy that has a padded fabric covering on the door pillar, it is beat up from the seat belt banging into it (I bought it used). I've just gotten into the habit of slowly returning the buckle to its resting place on the pillar after unlatching it. That's the only thing I've found that will help solve that problem ;)
