Don't laugh but my Inferno Red 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser base model 5 speed is what I go to when I need a reality check. It shifts nicely - better than the 2005 BMW 325i 5 speed I purchased new and sold after a year. Its shifter was notchy, the PTC shifts smoothly.

I had a 2022 Mav Lariat EB which I replaced when my ordered hybrid arrived. The EB was more fun to drive than the 2024 Mav Lariat hybrid.

Other than that, a Cessna C172 [rental] gets heart pumping.

The Talon and SLK were both fun to drive but the Forester XT took the cake. A compact SUV that could do 0-60 in 5.3 sec and it had a MT!

Manual stick shift anything = fun to drive.
I feel sorry for the young people. Stick shift vehicles are nearly obsolete. You missed out.
My 2002 Ford ZX2 manual 5 speed beats all mine. It is small and nimble. Wish I had 5 new ones.
Plus it had a fun commercial.

In my 20's I had a 1974 silver Lincoln Mark IV with silver leather interior and a sun roof. It had a 460 cu in engine. I liked driving that. It was a tanker and just floated down the road.

It had a gigntic back seat too, in case you were trying to smooch up the girls.

I think I got about 8mpg, and the sunroof always leaked, but I still thought I was the coolest cat in town. :ROFLMAO:

These are all fun in their own way. Miata is just a hoot. GT500 is a MONSTER. 03 Cobra has the best rumble and top down fun. SRT8 300 is the most rare of them all and the best freeway mile eating machine.

I have owned a few cars in my life.

What are the cars you have owned and which one was your most favorite to drive?

The Maverick is my WINNER for most fun to drive followed by the Mazda Miata. 2016 Ford F150 was a great truck as well.

1994 Nissan Sentra
1998 Mazda Miata
2002 Ford Expedition V8
2007 Camry Hybrid
2008 Ford F150 Lariat V8
2016 Ford F150 Lariat V8
2017 Dodge Challenger
2019 Nissan Rogue
2020 Ford F150 XLT Eco & Lifted
2022 Ford F150 Lariat V8
2024 Ford Maverick XLT Eco
We're honored to top the list! So glad you love your Maverick

1970 Buick LeSabre 455 V8 on bias ply tires with the air cleaner cover flipped over.

Would generate a mini black hole in the engine compartment at wide open throttle and spin 1 tire at any speed when flooring it.

The length of a legal parking space with slippery bench seats and lap belts. Scary fun every time I drove it.

Gotta say my maverick is a treat to drive but still too new to have too much fun in. I loved bagging around in my aveo hatchback.

1989 4dr cavalier
1988 caprice classic
1997 honda civic
2006 chev aveo (1st new car)
2011 silverado ( lost in separation)
2009 sierra (t case failure and rustbucket died just before my maverick showed up)
2014 chev sonic (good car but a multi fuel coolant/gasoline engine)

Fun was a 1982 Escort 4-speed manual with manual crank windows on the toll roads. No I-pass back then. Slow and go, tossing the handful of change in the hopper and time the roll to get under the rising gate without it smacking the windshield. Floor it, shifting through gears while cranking up the window.

It's not for nothing that I call my Maverick the EcoBlast! Mine is FWD and I really like the torque steer. So much fun to drive quickly.

"Most fun to drive" is a relative thing in my opinion. I brought home three tons (three pallets on a flatbed trailer) of fertilizer yesterday, and my F350 dually was the most fun for that trip. Went to retrieve my 1988 Mako 171 from the marina shop today and my F150 was the most fun to drive for that trip. When the weather is right, my 2017 Mustang GT convertible 6-speed is the most fun to drive, but I drive it nowhere near its potential because, frankly, it scares the crap out of me based on several YouTube videos...

But when I am driving to Walmart or running errands in almost any kind of weather, then the EcoBlast Maverick is the most fun to drive quickly. It is a remarkable vehicle - quite a step up from the Mazda B3000 I have been driving since 1999.

68 Mustang- 350 built, also had a tranny that "chirped the tires" when switching gears, slammed 3" front, 2" back

All 4 were a blast to drive. Owned other cars, but these are the ones I wish I still had.

My rides, in order of best to worst fun-to-drive:
1. '92 Miata 5 sp. - There's nothing more to say about Miata that half this thread hasn't already said.
2. '06 Mazda 6 5 sp. (Mazda gets handling, plus manual transmission FTW)
4. (Tie) '96 Cherokee Sport 5 sp. The 4 liter HO straight 6 has so much smooth torque, which, when added to the manual made it a lot of fun, with less understeer than you might expect (until the steering damper failed, then *scary*)
4. (Tie) '24 Maverick XLT hybrid. Plenty of scoot. Not a manual, but transmission modes do make a noticeable difference.
6. (Tie) '87 Mustang LX 4 cyl. 5 sp. I was too cheap to pay for insurance on the 8, so my Mustang was woefully underpowered. But it was a good car overall.
6. (Tie) '02 Subaru Outback LLBean. Since it had the six, it was an automatic :-(, and the handling was so-so when really pushed, though the awd made it better at more moderate speeds. Decent power and a huge sunroof helped the experience.
7. '10 CRV Typically peaky Honda engine needs many many revs to do anything, and understeers a lot. Crappy mileage to boot.
9. (Tie) '98 Grand Voyager; '07 Honda Odyssey. Minivans were what we needed, but obviously not exciting to drive.
11. '98 Explorer. Handled like a (mushy 50s) car; rode like a truck. Went though ball joints on the front suspension arms like nobody's business.

All 3 of my kids (24, 25 and 27) drive stick. In fact my oldest insisted on stick when we bought his high school commuter car. (We had been watching Top Gear together for a while. (This was 2008 when it was close to its peak)).
