Yeah we need a Chinese Ford sold here 😜 . There is a reason it is NOT sold in the US, like emissions, airbags, other regulations.
It's just a matter of time before Chinese Ford and Chinese BYD and Indian Tata are available for purchase in Merkuh. Among other brands. This is not a BAD thing. They all still need to meet Merkun requirements (as mentioned), and will open up a whole new world of lower price vehicles for consumers. I mean, really, quality isn't anything to brag about with Ford, GM, etc, anymore. There really is no reason to be "brand loyal" other than maybe your cousin owns stock in the company or something.
The Toyota cheap pickup, if ever introduced, will sell like hotcakes, to use an old-person phrase. Probably not the Slate, since it has both a small cab and small bed, but it will be a perfect fit for some people. It's not about brand name, it's about cost. That was the main motivation for most people to buy the Maverick, myself included. If a company, any company, puts out a $20k "pickup" similar to the Maverick, it will flood the market. Heck, by the middle of 2026 $20k in 2025 $ will be about $23-25k. And the Maverick XL with zero options will be close to $35k. And I suspect the F150 Raptor will be over $175k. These are interesting times.

I had a Flex park next to my Maverick a couple of days ago. As I walked to the truck I realized how similar in size they were. As to this article I could see a 3 row SUV version selling. My fiance has a 2009 Explorer and she would like a new Explorer except for this reason. For some stupid reason the custom builder of the house we bought 2 years ago put 8' wide garage doors in it with a 2 foot wall section between them. Why the plans didn't allow for a 9' door I don't know. We did talk to a structural engineer and he said it could be changed to a single door with enough money. So here is the problem with the new Explorers they are 89.3" wide mirror to mirror. Measuring the track opening of out garage door at 91.5" that doesn't leave much room to squeeze in. My Maverick? It fits great in the garage, backed fully in, shut the door, and had room to open the tailgate and walk around the truck.
Instead of a 3 row Maverick SUV I would prefer they move the back seat back for more legroom and make a 2 row SUV. It would suit our needs well. If we have more than 4 people going somewhere take 2 vehicles.
II currently own a Flex too. They are almost the exact size, except the Flex is a couple inches wider.

I used to park a F450 Super Duty Tow truck in an 8'x7' high door. I had to be pretty much exact each time. Had only about 1/2" on each side and top. I used the mirror until the bed (wider) was in, then folded the driver mirror until inside. The boom had to fit between the back wall 2x4's to close the door. It was tight, but safe and no parking tickets. It was not easy but worked. 2 years later I bought a house with a 40' deep garage, and an 18x8' door.

Ford marketing doesn't care what I think, but my opinion is that naming such an SUV with 'Maverick' as part of the name doesn't really make sense.
what, you expect sense from the people who label an electric crossover as a "M------". I can't even type it due to self respect!

I'm probaby the minority here but would love to see an extended cab with a longer bed and jump seats like my old 1997 Ranger.

the '19-'23 ranger had a supercab with suicide half doors and 6' bed. my sister bought one because she hates 4 door trucks and now the '24-up ranger is supercrew only. the sales volume of the supercab was not viable.

Nobody gonna mention a single seat, half cab, 8ft bed with 10ft right side extended to firewall option where the passenger used to sit?
