Modify Bed Rail Systems & Accessories

I've started filling my HD cart with parts to build the TDTV version of the bed rail anchor system but then found Ridgeview product for $160 in powder coated black. Has anyone tried their system? They seem to have a few accessories. I'm wondering if the DIY build will allow a wider range of accessories with the strut cone nuts, although Ridgeview does have those available as well.

I'm hoping to use my Thule 65" square load bars (which require a foot system if mounted on a roof). I also have a set of Subaru OEM crossbars. The problem with both of these attachment points is the way they secure down. It is probably more likely that I could figure out something to attach to the rail system to hold the square load bars.

Ideally, I'll be putting two 10' Hornbeck pack boats and two bikes on the truck in some fashion or another.

Leaning on the Club to come up with some ingenuity here!! Let's hear it.

I went with the same cheaper Amazon V-rings. I didn’t see the need for fully adjustable sliding attachment points on a short bed, especially with the cost difference.

I was thinking the same about just installing individual rings, but someone mentioned that attaching ratchet straps to individual rings and tightening them could - depending on how Ford attached the bolt holes in the bed - pull and possibly distort the bed walls. I am thinking that attaching the DIY channel to multiple bolt connections could spread the stress better.

Agree - the rails absorb some of the force and provide load distribution across the system instead of putting it on a single attachment point.

The D rings also do not provide as much flexibility as the entire system to attach other accessories.

Just installed Ridgeview. Responsive to online ordering questions. Well packed, no issues. Product looks great - black rails on silver bed.

i (and others here) have added the eye bolts eye bolts , 4 each side. Basically gives a tie down point every 6" or less.

Thanks but of you read my OP you'll see that I'm looking for something other than just a tie down point.

I picked up a couple chunks of L-track and some anchors for about $50, I just need to get around to installing it.

Yes. I've only used it a few times but no issues. There are 3 bolts that hold the rail (2 are behind the tie-downs. The tie-downs slide to any position and will tighten down by turning the middle loop clockwise. It's very straight forward. Best wishes on whichever direction you choose.

I was looking at the ridgeview rails as well. Anyone know if they are compatible with bedside MOLLE panel? I’m assuming I can just bolt the rail on with the panel underneath.
