Looking to see if there's a setting to change the maximum volume on startup?

If it matters - though I doubt it does;
XL 2.0l EB 22MY
Bluetooth device; iPhone 12 pro
Issue I'm having is I like to listen to podcasts, say at Volume 15 out of 30 because people talking is a lot quieter than music, though when I get in and startup a lot of the time the blutooth doesn't sync quickly after turning on the audio. Then it defaults to the AM radio station 530 (no clue why...) which isn't anything but static, so I'm blaring static in my ears at volume 15, and it even takes a few seconds to register me turning the volume down and seems generally really buggy lately. Looked in the settings and couldn't find a max volume on startup like my 2013 Chevy Sonic had which helped eliminate this issue. Even worse it'll disconnect from my phone periodically and default to the AM radio at full volume static... Extremely distracting and honestly sours my opinion on the Maverick overall if my 2013 Sonic could handle bluetooth flawlessly to the point where I didn't even think about it, but 9 years later Ford still doesn't have it figured out... Is it possible that there's an update to the software I could look for? I saw that setting but it just loaded and loaded without doing anything for 15 minutes until I gave up.

Did you install the later head unit/stereo update? I find once installed the B/T Connection is almost instant and I don't hear any FM/AM radio station playing where as prior I would.

I tried checking for updates via my phones hotspot Wi-Fi, do you know a thread or software version number I can use to verify?

You have to check for updates like 2-3 times that’s what happened for me, pressed it once it said its up to date then do it a couple more times and it says there’s an update available.

it should be on G2.0.0.1_R22285A software

Says I'm on;
Ford Audio, Software Version: G1.9.0.1_R22075A
Revision: G1.9.01_PRODUCT_GE

First attempt at updating gave me a download bar that stayed at 0% for a good 10 minutes, tried restarting and it just was stuck at the searching for updates loading circles for another 10 minutes... I wish I could just download to a flashdrive and plug it in, this is so tedious and frustrating. At least I know it's out of date and needs to update though.

Found the above thread, giving a good amount of info on how to update the stoftware... Guess I'm headed back to try again.

Alright after waiting a good 30 minutes at 0% I'm just giving up on updating over mobile hot-spot. I don't have a garage so I guess I'm SOL for the time being...

I had pervious trouble using my iPhones Hotspot but had success using a WiFi hotspot device from my phone carrier. So that’s what you may need.

If it doesn't get audio from BT or AA/CarPlay within a certain amount of time it will default to playing the last AM/FM channel selected. There's no separate volume for different sources so it just uses whatever volume you had it last set at.

I normally listen to terrestrial radio on my drive into work so the switching isn't too much of a bother, although I need to remember to turn down the volume when I get home as the radio stations all blast their gain like the loudness war is still in fashion.

Wouldn't it be nice though if there was a setting in the software that would do that for you though? Like next time I start up, it defualts to volume 5/30, even if you were rocking out when you first got home at 15/30

I'm in the habit of turning my volume down when I park. Too many years of ridiculously loud stereo systems, I guess. Multiple 12's, two 15's, single 10" DVC...

Huh? You have to type louder so I can hear ya.

It's a setting that exists on my older Chevy Sonic, and I was surprised it doesn't on current Ford software, that's really all I'm saying. It doesn't have to be done the hard way manually every single time. There is a simpler way my friend, it's okay to not have to do everything every single time.

In the same vein, there's tons of things that should be saved every time you leave - drive mode being able to be defaulted to economy if you want, maximum volume on startup, etc. Basically, you're recommending I just have a checklist for startup and shutdown every time I commute. It shouldn't have to be that way my friend, there's plenty of memory and storage in the computers on the Maverick, it should save driver profiles and remember your preferred settings.

you want features in a Maverick XL? just checking, as it's now the cheapest vehicle Ford makes since the EcoSport is gone.

the power seat in the lariat doesn't even have memory settings.

mykey can set a max volume of 45% on a key but that'll stop you from raising it, ever. I'm not arguing against technology. yes, it would be useful what you're asking. no, you're not going to get it added retroactively to your XL. turn the knob and enjoy the ride. :)

It's not about trim - it's about Ford's software lacking features, and consistency. The software already exists, if it remembers your old volume, then it knows to start up at volume X. Changing that to just constantly being Volume A costs nothing but coding it. Implementing it on all trims costs literally nothing once it's created since it can be sent via an update or when the vehicle is first manufactured. The computers are there- it's about using them. I'm not asking for heated massage chairs, it's a simple rule to code into the computer.

It's not consistent, if I leave with my vehicle in Eco mode, it forgets that, but if I leave with volume cranked, it remembers that? How hard is it really to just create a basic "upon start up, start with radio volume X and drive mode Y" and no one has to fiddle with buttons and switches every. single. time. especially if you plan to own the vehicle for 10 years this can easily waste loads and loads of time that software can fix. Doing a long road trip and stopping just for gas? Well, hope you don't forget to change your drive mode again, because it's defaulted to Normal permanently, even if you wanted it to be in Eco.

You're experiencing the same annoyance on a Lariat, if anything you should be more annoyed than I am that every time you leave, you turn the volume down. There shouldn't be this holier-than-thou mentality about complaining about software. Regardless, if it's not a problem for you then why bother commenting?
