We bought a '23 Ranger last May when we were looking for a Maverick. We had it 6 months. When we took the Ranger in for service in November, there were 2 hybrid Mavericks on the lot that were cancelled orders. We came home with one of them. Much happier with our little truck! The mileage is Great!
Thats awesome, Congrats. Grreat decision in my opinion.

People keep saying that the Maverick and the Ranger are different so you can’t compare them. How do you know they’re different? You compared them. If they were not different you wouldn’t have to compare them.

I actually ordered a Ranger back in 2023 when Mavericks were so hard to find. But the more I thought about them — and, yes, compared them — the more I realized the Maverick had features I preferred. So I went back to the dealer and ordered a Maverick. There are some things I think I prefer about the Ranger, but, still, when I compare them, the Maverick comes out on top.

Gas mileage is what keeps me in a maverick, as much as I want a F250 Tremor

The Maverick was designed for people who do "car things" 90% of the time, and truck things now and then. We have access to both worlds with comfort, great mpg, fits in garage, and can tow a small trailer if needed. If you have more need for a truck, go larger!

I don't have mine yet, but from the outset I've viewed it as a car with a big trunk rather than a truck.

My 2023 XLT 2.0 Eco FWD Maverick went in to the dealer for a week for an electronic gremlin, which they didn't find.

I was given a brand new Ranger XLT 4x4 as a "loaner".
While I appreciated the loaner I did not like the truck. Bumped my head every time I got in it.
Hard, "notchy" ride going down the road. Not as comfortable as my Maverick.

You can get a 4x4 XL Ranger with tow package and locking rear for under $40k.
you can also get a ranger XLT 2.7tt 4x4 with locking rear, tech pack, and advanced towing for under 48k. this has adaptive cruise and protrailer, which we have buy a lariat Maverick to get.

The two trucks are different ideas. Maverick is perfect for us- we have a commuter car that can do weekend house work stuff.

You are a person that can really give a view of compairing the Maverick, and the Ranger. You were able to drive both new vehicles for more then a hour to really see how different they are. After a week all the things, good, and bad, have happened. Did you make the right choice with the Mav?

I needed a new pickup badly and needed a new car but only was getting one. I was originally looking at a used F150 but the mpg is such a killer to me that I found out about the Maverick and the hybrid and was sold on it. Wasn't expecting to get a brand new vehicle with a brand new loan payment but it's been everything I've wanted.

The Ranger would've been a consideration but the mpg probably would've kept me in a car and keeping. My old 87 F-150 that got 9mpg and drove it less than 500mi a year.

bear in mind that almost everyone who is making that comparison, including the poster several replies back who had a 'brand new' Ranger service loaner, very likely is talking about the 2019-2023 Ranger and NOT the 2024 which is a ground-up redesign.

the '24 does not have equal rear seat legroom to the Maverick, but it's better than the 19-23. it also is a heavier vehicle, gaining about 600 pounds for the 2.3 model and a lot more for the v6 twin turbos. in fact the Ranger Raptor checks in at 5300 pounds, only 400 less than a '24 F150!.

there are some people who are budget shopping and for some reason choose a Maverick when they really needed a Ranger or F150 for towing, or they wanted a F150 supercrew-sized backseat. those people should get a used F150 instead, as others mentioned in this thread.

these 3 trucks are very different. purpose, capabilities, cost, driving dynamics, all of it.

I only drove the Ranger about 60 miles total. I was happy to return it.
I am comfortable driving the Maverick and much prefer it.
