I know this comparison is completely apples to oranges, but that’s what makes it fun.

With recent MY24 Maverick price increases, and really nice incentives ($10k off MSRP?!) on new Gladiators that aren’t selling… suddenly now both these trucks are in the same price category. Granted most of these are not my home state but even dealers around me are offering $5k incentives until Oct 2nd. Screenshot is just the first ones that came up on search.

My 2024 XLT Lux Hybrid on order with a moonroof/HPR/360 is about the same price as a Sport S Gladiator after incentives. Body on frame solid axles vs unibody. Hybrid 2WD vs Gas 4WD. I have always thought it would be fun to go off-road, although one time in Arizona I got motion sick in the back of a safari jeep (I tend to get motion sick when not driving, sometimes when driving too!)

Financially it makes less sense to go with the jeep. Twice the fuel cost especially considering we hope to keep it 10+ years. But I drove my father in law’s wrangler with the top down and LOVED IT. I enjoy convertibles and windows down driving in my mustang. My wife also thinks it would be fun to have a jeep although she thinks the gladiator is pretty ugly. We need a truck for homeowner things so no regular wrangler.

What would you choose? (Duh it’s a Maverick forum but humor me)

Honestly after our Tremor was delivered I started seeing deals on the Gladiator. I originally wanted a Bronco but was priced out and when I realized the Maverick was actually bigger than the Bronco cargo (dog room) wise. I went for a FX4k, but that ddint get built so I rolled into a Tremor. I absolutely love it. I come from hardcore abusive offroading in old Jeeps. With that in mind a Gladiator looks really good. However after the weight of the loan landed on my shoulders I got to thinking really the Tremor will do everything offroad I am willing to do to something I owe a bunch of money on. It will haul what we need, get us to cool spots, have alot of fun doing it, get good mpg, and will keep me from going balls out into a mud hole potentially ruining modern electronics that both trucks are saddled with. Or thinking I can pound it against obstacles because it has solid axles. Truth is as tough as the Gladiator is, my style of offroading is, build stuff, wheel it hard until I break it then cobble it back together.

Looking at the comparison of your $36,000 Gladiator vs my $29,620 Tremor. I choose my Maverick Tremor and put the extra $6,000 into my old Comanche or my 96 Bronco, or even tear down my old CJ7 and build a buggy out of it. Then beat the tar out of one of those while my wife follows down the trail in the Tremor videoing my madness.

My wife wanted the gladiator but we decided to go for the Maverick instead. My legs are simply too long to fit in the Jeep.

buy now regret later. I was excited when the Glad was introduced, that died when launched.
imho the Glad was too much Wrangler and too little a pickup truck. Still a good buy for some.
Still a fan of the old Wagoneer based Jeep trucks.

Man a tremor for $29k would be a great deal! I think I priced one out with 2024 pricing and I was hitting about 39k, which ideally we would be at 30, which is around where our hybrid mav build was before they announced all the price increases

We will do a lot of traveling 1.5 hours one way to see both sets of grandparents with a new baby. The truck will be the family vehicle and the Maverick seemed like a good choice with the hybrid gas mileage

I watch this youtbe Chanel and online prices are OFTEN not TRUE. You get to dealer and he says some BS and the price for the Jeep is suddenly 10K more. Check that out first. .

No comparison. You already answered yourself on the gas cost front, and Jeeps continue to be at or near the bottom in terms of reliability. Stay away from anything that has a Jeep logo on it.

Ah yes, we love a dealer that breaks federal advertising regulations. That's actually a fantastic situation to be in, because then you can strong arm them into actually giving you the price in exchange for not going straight to the FTC and them getting a hell of a lot more in fines.

Just called Envision West Covina who is linked in the article. All those prices don’t include mandatory $7000 in dealer add-ons. Yikes! It was ceramic coating, and then some key and interior damage insurance

It was a great deal for us. We got it on Grangers $3000 off deal they had. Basic XLT with the rear window, HPR paint, the inverter in cab, the SIBL+cargo managment deal for had. Would have been $33,000. At $29k I choose the Tremor, if I had paid full price I may be on the fence about the Gladiator. Either way I cant do anything here on Maui with a discount, Gladiators dont come off the boat here for less than $50k.
