So I'm a bit torn and I'm looking for some opinions on what others would do if they were in my shoes. When the F150 lightning pre order banks opened I was a day 9ne reservation. I had the option 6ish months ago to get a year one build but turned it down because they were sold out of the pro model and the xlt extended range battery they made you get a $9500 tech package along with the 10k extended range battery. So I delayed it and since I figured I would even have the option of getting a 22 I ordered a maverick beginning of January. I ordered an Xlt EB AWD lux package. Obviously because of the lux package I won't be getting a 22 and I'm not sure when I would get a 23 model year. I personally would rather wait for the maverick but the lightning I just got an email for saying I can order a 23 today. My dilemma is do I wait out for the maverick that I'd rather have or get the lightning because it would more than likely come in faster or just buy a cheap car to hold over. The reason I need something sooner than later is I currently drive a regular cab f150 and I have a child due end of September and my wife and I don't want to deal with trading off vehicles if the child needs to be taken somewhere. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

I don't know if the Lightning would end up coming in faster TBH. Delays are quite severe for both (and honestly all new) vehicles. There's not a lot to do a cross-shop comparison, but I'd be looking at crossovers like the Tuscon or CRV in the meantime. Assuming a truck bed isn't an absolute necessity.

Radically different in pricing between the two. I don't even put them in the same ball park. Seems crazy to me to think you would consider one over the other since there not even close to being the same. One a very small gas pickup. The other a way LARGER EV pickup. Plus there must be at least a 30 maybe 40K difference in price. I cant say what to do as the difference between vehicles is so far apart.

Yeah, I can't believe these are the two options you are torn between. If you can handle the size, cost, range of F150 lightning do that. If you want a Maverick do that. Swapping vehicles while having a baby isn't a big deal. Not sure why you would buy something you don't want for that reason. This line of thought from OP doesn't feel very thought out...

Keep/create orders for both.....keep your options open. Very unlikely you'd see a Lightning before a Maverick, but who really knows. Both will be long waits, unless you luck out and find a refused order somewhere.

Both are hot, in-demand vehicles, so it's very likely you can sell the one you don't want for a profit.

Short-term, you may need to do something else to get by, but that's hard to advise not knowing the details of your situation.

Bottom line, get them both on order ASAP, secure your short term needs, and wait them out. You'll likely have the Mav first, drive that until the Lightning comes in, then decide which to keep.
