Hey everyone, I have a 2023 Ford Maverick with the tremor package. Recently I found out that the normal driving mode was not the eco mode and that this mode was disabled on the truck, which explains why I am getting around 10L/100km. After speaking with the dealerships and Ford Canada the only solution they can offer is to purchase a third party device called forscan to enable it myself. However if anything goes wrong with the truck after using forscan, I am not covered for any repairs that need to be done to the truck. I am astounded by the stupidity of this situation, as I do not understand why Ford does not own this device and use it at their garages. Sorry for the rant, this leads me to my questions I hope someone has the answer too :
1) Do all mavericks have their eco mode disabled or is this just common in the tremor package edition ?
2) I understand that hundreds of people that used forscan, probably had no issues with their truck afterwards, but is there any other way to enable this eco mode, without paying for another device and if so did you just purchase the device from the forscan website ?

Thank you

FORScan is just software. Other manufacturers make the hardware cable you need to interface with it.

Tremors and FX4 package EcoBoosts don't have Sport and Eco mode as its replaced by their additional offroad modes. That said the loss of Eco mode probably isn't detracting from your mileage that much. 23.5 MPG (10L/100km) doesn't sound that abnormal for a Tremor since they're EPA rated for 21 combined.

Tremor and FX4 models have Eco and Sport modes disabled in favor of the off road focused driving modes.

Forscan is just a software program you can run on even a pretty basic laptop. You just need to buy OBDII cable to connect to your truck (would buy the one Forscan recommends) and the software license. Access to the driving modes has to be enabled through the software which = Forscan.

You should always backup the existing configuration before making any changes in Forscan and you could always revert the changes before taking it to the dealer for service. They can probably still see access to the modules, etc but every dealer tends to be different in how much they care.

I added Eco & Sport to my FX4 and it took about 15 min without ever having used Forscan before. I took my truck in for recall work about 1.5 years ago. They didn't say anything about it but the software update they did erased those changes and I just had to go back in and add them again. Honestly Eco mode is unlikely to make a huge difference to your mileage so if you are concerned about the potential hassle from dealers, I wouldn't bother.

I have Eco on my AWD 4K. All Eco Mode does is reduce your truck's acceleration. Once you are up to speed, I have found it makes no difference. If you mainly do highway driving, speed is a bigger factor than having Eco Mode.

Sport mode may be similar to off-road mode. Sport keeps all four wheels active up to a higher speed and holds gears longer.

Suggestion: maximize your use of cruise control. While I have added ECO mode via Forscan, I've seen better fuel savings by using cruise control.

Thank you. I find I get more specific answers on here then from ford.

Thank you. I will give that a try. I think the biggest issue is how much gas I saved when I had a vw jetta and comparing it to the maverick seems like I am burning gas.

You should know that while you were explaining about the Temor's different modes, you were able to answer a question that has eluded me for about a year despite my numerous inquiries on other threads. How does one connect their computer to the Maverick? Many thanks.
