I was looking at the Maverick(Lariat) Tremor or even Lariat fx4 package. What im wondering is does the Maverick have any palace I could store fishing rods(2) and a backpack with my fishing equipment in it.. would it fit under the rear seat? they are the 2 piece rods and reels.. Im also looking at the ridgeline and it has the trunk and even under rear seat where it could go.. is there room under the rear seat or is it just too cramped/not enough rook would you think? I keep this stuff in my truck pretty much March-mid November so I do need space for it. I havent found a mid size truck yet that seemingly does have the space outside the Ridgeline so im doing my due diligence and asking.

Id even prefer some real world experience if YOU are doing this and what it looks like possibly?

I think that the two piece rod and reels would fit behind the rear seat back depending of course on their length when broken down the Lariot with the upgraded sound system has an amplifier back there but I doubt it would be in your way. The underseat storage should have plenty of room for a small to medium size backpack.
There's two underseat storage compartments and I've got both rear seat headrests, tiedowns, work gloves and some other stuff in just one compartment.

Yes I agree with the post above! The under seat storage is pretty substantial! Would definitely hold a book bag. Behind the rear seat would like work for a two piece rod. However I’d also pose some options, if you get or build the rails in the bed you could easily fabricate or 3D print (couple of files out there) these drop down mounts that are adjustable! I have a small shovel on one side of my truck bed mounted and a snow brush mounted on the other side. I have a locking tonneau cover but something to consider!
