MY 2023 XLT Lux EB FX4 in Alto Blue. Falling into the popular group, 65yo male. Always had an SUV type as a 2nd vehicle for longer trips, hauling bigger items. Replaced a stolen GM SUV. Later figured i didn't need an oversized SUV.

M pushing 50, but old for my age. Fond memories of gathering firewood with my dad in '80s and '90s rangers helped a great deal with my choice. Also I can see a lot of usefulness in the concept of an efficient compact truck with room for passengers and cargo. The execution leaves a bit to be desired, but I'm hopeful it's a keeper, since I don't have a big stack for regular vehicle purchases and don't expect to be in clover anytime soon.

Perhaps a lot of us are also acting out against how trucks have been marketed in the last 20 years, as your personal off-roading tank and a mortgage on four wheels. I live in a rural area where heavier-duty trucks can be a practical necessity: for some of us, (not me) off-roading is what you do each time you go between your residence and the road network, in all terrain and all sorts of conditions. Plenty others have genuine need to haul horse trailers. So you won't see many Mavericks out here. Our buyers are well-conditioned to be suspicious of a truck that isn't oversized, heavy and thirsty. Economy and practicality aren't even a thought -but pretty soon they might be.

First truck, first hybrid, first Ford, first American make, and most of that seems coincidental to me. If I were a more competent wrencher with more time on my hands I might try to make a truck from the basic-truck era last a few more decades.

71 years old .
Drove many cheap, wore out rust-buckets through school living in the Midwest .
Bought my first brand new truck in 1974 .
Bare bones Chevy longbed.
6 cylinders , 3 in the tree , no AC , no PS .
Thought I was in heaven , had it pinstriped , bought the clear , bubble , seat covers , mounted a radio under the dash , Zeibart undercoating , and picked up a used camper shell .
It still rusted away ....

Have had about 50 vehicles in my life , I'm guessing my Maverick should be my last one .
And for fun I break out my 1961 Ford Starliner . " Inherited " from my Grandpa 38 years ago , currently has 18,000 original miles ...
I'll post a picture in a minute ...

Good choice, I have DART pro series one heads on my stroked 351 (408) in my 1968 Mustang 488 hp and 484fpt. Works well in a 3200lb with me in it car😎.

68 Mustang's are one of the nicest looking Mustangs.
My F100 engine is a stroked 460 (520).
The cam is fairly mild. I hope it will make 600 hp and maybe 650 lbft.
The aforementioned car I've been driving ( sparingly ) for 38 years of my 71 years .

Hey ! ZERO bells and whistles !
The way driving used to be ....

First truck was a beat-up, half-ton Chevy I bought at a city auction for $300. Drove home in 2nd gear and shut it off at red lights. Had to fix the clutch. Sold it years later for $500. In 1999 I bought a slightly used '97 Ranger for 99% commuting and 1% hauling. Useful for taking kid to/from college. Sixteen years later, a suicidal deer ran in front of it. Next was a '08 Lexus hybrid SUV. Fell in love with hybrids, but missed the hauling capability. Solved that six months ago with a new '25 Lariat hybrid. Bought the Lariat in part for the technology that should help this 74-year-old stay safe.

Nah, it's all good. I'd never find another in Eruption Green and I love 'Fern' (named after my sister who has always hated her middle name 🤣🤣🤣) I don't take long road trips anymore, just a bit of mild offroading with my pittie mix by my side.

Gen Zer here, the youngest generation to drive a vehicle right now (1997-2012) Gen alpha isn't quite there yet (2013-present) That means the oldest of that generation would still only be twelve years old and the youngest being zero.

It's funny how the original intent for the Maverick was to appeal to young, outdoorsy types when quite the opposite happened. According to the comments and my real-world observations, they seem to be driven by older people, specifically Boomers and Gen Xers. I see why. They're affordable (at least used to) easy to get in and out of, practical, great on fuel and modest.

Overall, it's a great all-rounder that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to buy and operate.

As a gen Xer it's a bit nostalgia for the minitrucks I wanted in my teens, and a bit of the jonesing to be more outdoorsy but not wanting the aforementioned mortgage on 4 wheels or the pump shock from dailying that kind of drinking problem.

So does it help the cool factor if we trick out with 80s gear and 80s tunes blasting for Stranger Things callbacks or nah?

I will now attempt to communicate across generations...

I’m wondering the demographics of the Maverick vs the old Ranger and comparable trucks or even the earlier Courier and its contemporaries. Seems like it may be the same people who bought the 1990s era ranger might be buying the current maverick 😅
I had a couple Rangers in that era along with a Couple 2000 era Rangers and then a bunch of F-150's because the 4.0 SOHC I had in the 2000 era Rangers weren't much better on gas than the V-8 and Eco Boost F-150's I had.I now have a Maverick and I'm 58 Years Old.
