Maverick just the beginning?

Since Ford doesn’t do cars anymore, and maverick seems to be a potential home run, where else can Ford go with trucks?

My first thought is a f100. An extremely functional first unibody in between the ranger and 150. Focus on the 90% of what people use a truck for.

Second thought was a 2 seat 6’ bed, coming in below maverick. Based on eco sport size.

They could probably do another unibody pickup but with stronger suv styling, like the Santa Cruz.

I think a hybrid 2 door version with a longer bed and standard AWD would be a big hit.

People keep saying they want a 2 seater with a longer bed and in the same breath say they want it to be cheaper. What is Ford's incentive to make a less profitable truck?

I don’t think it would necessarily have to be a lot cheaper than maverick.

I think there would be just as much demand for it as there is for eco sport.

To me the eco sport overlaps too much with escape.

Whatever it's the beginning of, hopefully it becomes the END of messed up dealer-involved transactions and non/mis-information with the ordering process! AWD hybrid in the Mav's current size/form but not being a parts bin vehicle would be cool. I think they would have seen how big a hit this thing is and would want to capitalize on it.

I don't think we will see an additional truck in the lineup unless it replaces an existing truck.

Next year I will be curious to see how the Maverick impacts Ranger and F150 sales.

F150's are almost unaffordable, Ranger prices are where F150 prices were a few years ago, so the Maverick price point was sorely needed.

I think the maverick will kill the ranger. I honestly think the biggest mistake Ford made was not doing this earlier and give it the ranger nameplate. With the loyal ranger following and the updated modern usefulness of the maverick it would be killing it in sales.

I know a lot of people are thinking the Maverick may eat into Ranger sales, but what about Escape sales? I wasn't really in the market for a truck but when I was in the market for an Escape and found I could get a truck with similar gas mileage, size, and more utility, I chose the truck. I suspect I'm not alone. I'm also a former Focus owner as well. This Maverick has appeal to both SUV and truck people.
