I'll be making a road trip from Tucson to Dallas before Christmas (~1000 miles). Pretty much any ICE vehicle could make this trip with a few quick stops for gas. The Truck of the Year would leave me stranded somewhere in New Mexico, and that's assuming it was fully charged to begin with.
For $35k, you could get a '22 Nissan Frontier S or SV and have a far more capable truck. The Nissan VQ engine is exceptionally reliable too. Since you say 4 × 8 material is important for your business,, I would look into the LWB (long wheelbase) option with a 6' bed. I can't imagine you'll be...

Regarding usable space, one thing I dislike about the Maverick is the lack of a 60/40 split in the back. It comes in extremely handy when I have a passenger in the back of my Frontier.

I also sat inside a Maverick at an auto show. I'm 6' with long legs and didn't have trouble "sitting behind myself". Actually thought it was more spacious than the latest Ranger...
The Ridgeline is generally rated as the best midsize truck by auto journalists, but I was deterred by the relatively high price and suv vibe. It's probably the best choice if interior comfort is your #1 priority. It also has a huge truck in the bed (big enough to fit a person), but you have a...
