In 1970 the Ford Maverick hit the market at $1,995 base model.
As a 50-year anniversary homage to the idea and name plate.
For 2020 Ford intended to bring out the next Ford Maverick at $19,995 XL.

But, covid happened, and delayed introduction a few years. Finally being released is a 2022 model.
That folks is why our beloved Mavericks are Mavericks and not Rancheros.

-Rear spoiler
Gave us a peek into what was considered "cool" in the auto world back in the 70's

Actually, 1970 was a peak year. Things really got lousy starting around 1973.

1970 minimum wage was 1.60/hr. Median wage was $8730.... So a Maverick cost 1/4 of the median wage in 1970. Median wage 2024 $59k so a Maverick XLT would be half a years wages.
Nope. Median HOUSEHOLD INCOME in 1970 was $8730, compared to $75,000 in 2022.

Therefore the $19,995 Maverick XL I bought in January 2022 was about 1/4 of the median household income, and it has 4 doors, A/C, automatic transmission, power everything, etc.

Different sources have different wages. According to the Social Security Administration in 2022 63K, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics it was 56k. I have NO idea where you got 75k but that is way off.
You continue to confuse median wage for an individual with median wage for a household, a household being someplace where there may be more than one wage earner.

When you wrote "Median wage was $8730" in 1970 I saw that you were using data for a household, not an individual. Therefore I googled "median household income in 2022", took data from reputable sources like US Census and the Fed, and reduced the number slightly to back out their adjustments for inflation.

Your datapoint "Social Security Administration in 2022 63K" is for an individual; you're comparing apples and oranges.

And don't forget the "zippy" big 6 engine that was anything but, you had a choice of a 170, a 200 or 250 engine sizes, the first 2 couldn't pull themselves of a discarded piece of bubblegum:crackup:
