Had a coworker ask a couple days ago if he and his wife could try fitting their new infant's car seat into the back seats of my Maverick. I, of course, obliged, and they were extremely thrilled that the car seat fit in the back passenger seat with plenty of room for the front seat passenger. Maybe not as far back as it would be with nothing in the back seats, but at least plenty of room for the wife to sit there. They said they'd also tried a Tacoma (of unknown, but recent vintage) and said with the baby seat fastened into the back seat, there was absolutely no knee room at all for the front seat passenger. This is despite the Tacoma being a larger truck on the outside.

I likened it to the Dr. Who Tardis - larger on the inside than it looks on the outside.

Looking at the numbers bears this out.

The Maverick has slightly more headroom and legroom, front and back.

A friend of mine has a 2005 Tacoma and he insists that it is bigger than the Mav. No way. I have set in the back of the Taco and my knees almost touched my ears. Even in the front seat I can never get comfy. Seems like the seats are quite low to the floor.

Out of curiosity, was it positioned facing backwards (for a newborn) or forward-facing?

HRG
It was a backwards facing infant seat with a locked in base and the seat itself could easily be removed from the base without unbuckling anything.

Car seats actually fit pretty well. I'm 5'9" and can fit my hand between my knee and the glovebox in the passenger seat. It's not great but works, That's more room than I had in my 2023 Frontier crew cab.

To have back seat passengers seated comfortably in my 2017 TRD Tacoma Sport, I had to move the front seats forward. Most everyone who sat in the back said there legs were cramped. On another seat note, I, along with many Tacoma owners, had to purchase seat-jackers, $60-$99, to install between the floor and the front of the front seat frame to relieve pressure on the back of the legs an butt. I don't need these on the Maverick -better ergonomics.

The interior and storage space of the Maverick is awesome. Here's a good review that highlights how incredible it is. Towards the end he says there's no small compact truck to compete with the Maverick basically because they can't.
