Hey,

So 12/7/2022 my Jeep WK limited (a truly aggressive beast at 400+ HP) was just about to throw a rod @ 170k+ and I am eligle for the Z plan through Ford HQ, so I drove to Healy Ford Lincoln in Goshen, NY and ended up in a 2022 Area 51 blue XLT, the only one on the lot.

Sadly @ 5000 Miles it began to develop an intermittent starting issue and left me stranded three times, each after dealer assured it was faulty battery etc., towed, examined.

I'm not describing this hell-ishly enough... The truck would leave me at random places after starting and running fine. Then it left me the last time in the middle of an intersection due to the fact auto-stop engaged and it wouldn't start back up. (along with a line of cars that couldn't figure out I was broke in my new truck). I thought it was jumping also but it was not just intermittent random starts....

That's when I learned of the whole secret compartment - can't go in neutral conundrum. I literally had 2% on my phone and had to quickly research the small compartment under the tray and pull the secret red cloth rip cord.... WTF!!! MADNESS....all for a dial shifter.

The best part is the state police call me at 2AM and state the truck was left for 9 hours on the side of a road, miles behind the dealership and I had to retrieve it and drive it back (ironically starts right up). I literally back it against thier front door. Tech supposedly called for tow but they never showed/verified.

End story:

I am currently in litigation with ford regarding the truck but it has been repaired. They replaced the "mega-tronics unit" (im told a robot solinoid gearbox that shifts various componentry in the transmission and also eventually and reluctantly performed/replaced "circuit overlay" which I told them probably the wiring harness issue which I found on this forum (so thanks!). Truck currently runs good although there is abit of a lag when accelerating but supposedly the transmission has to re-learn my style again from factory or some non-sense.

Just give us a stick like the F100 series lol... No-one wants to phwack on their drive

Could you share the Dealers Fix (technician) report? ... Thanks.

Is this a hybrid or EcoBoost?
Ecoboost 2.0L AWD (seems fine now minus glitchy Ford main screen electronics/apps and

Also had weird (buck? lack of better description) when accelerating hard 1x but didn't code or break)

UPDATE: The truck ran well for about a month and then left me in the intersection once again. Also neutral would not engage even after pulling the rip cord this time.

Then after 20min of being stuck in traffic it mysteriously starts and drives off like nothing happened, no code nothing....

The worst part is I took a $5500 settlement for my trouble three days before it malfunctioned again, thinking they had it fixed this time, and after waiting and driving it rigorously, assuming it was repaired.

Guess I'm stuck now #SAD

I haven't had anything like that, I also have an Eco, but I have thought on the rare occasion that I forgot to switch off the auto start/stop that 1. It was slow to re-engage, and 2. Once or twice it seemed to run a little rough after it restarted. Like me when I am first woken up. Makes me wonder what would happen if I used it all the time. I don't want to find out.

I was happy with a stick myself but, we're dinosaurs and, with few exceptions, manuals are rare. The hybrid is a different animal not suited for gear shifting and I like the technology of it and will accept the nature of it. Of course, I still get to shift myself in my other vehicles so there's that.
It's good to learn about your problem (sorry) so if it happens to me I'm prepared. Sucks that we have so little control over all this.
Hopefully you have no more issues and this becomes a distant memory.

My experience today with the rotary shifter left me thinking it seriously flawed. From a safety stand point. What happened was, after setting my coffee mug down in the cup holder I noticed a drop of coffee on the console by my mug. I wiped it t up with my finger. I apparently I hit the shifter knocking it into neutral. Not knowing I had done it, I thought I had a transmission problem because RPMs were @ 4000 and I was slowing down. Now what if I had bumped it into reverse??? Every other shifter I know of has a button or detente ie, pull a column shifter towards you. I think this is a safety concern.

Honestly this sounds like a case of getting a lemon, might need to look into your areas lemon laws.
Sounds like that ship has sailed based on his previous reply.

Do you have any paper work from the dealer showing what was done to correct these problems? Dealers always give you paperwork outlining what was done.

EDIT: Never mind I just realized this is an older post and the OP has yet to upload any paperwork surrounding his issue. IMO this is a troll post.

I pick up mine Saturday. So it doesn't have hard clicks for each drive mode?
