HahahahahaSo you think they should have undercoated the exhaust?
Well this is embarrassing

Yeah they always put the seams at the bottom or turned to the side. This helps them rust out faster. That's pretty typical for Ford exhausts. They use a grade of stainless steel that'll develop surface discoloration/corrosion but pretty rarely rusts through. The weak points are usually at the flanges and clamps which are regular steel/iron, and the seams of the mufflers.
Now let’s be real about this. When was the last time anyone has bought an exhaust system for a vehicle. Tuffy and Midas are just about out of business because of no one needing a full exhaust system.MY 2022- With 16k on it- Exhaust just looking trashed- My 2004 Honda Element's exhaust system still untouched at 235k miles is in much better shape. What metal type by-product is Ford using ? LOL

Yes- SLC- I know Ford did change a couple things with the rear muffler assembly on the 2022's mid-production but no idea how mine ended up just in such a sorry state- Yes I drive in snow and dirt/mud but always get the under carriage wash option.Wait, do you actually live in salt lake city? I live in SLC, well, just south of it in Riverton. I also own a 2022 and have included pics of it below for comparison. I apologize, I don't have a lift, so this was me laying on the ground.
I agree, our winters aren't that bad, well last one was. We don't get much snow in the valley, but we do at higher elevations. I used to live near the draper temple, they salted those roads like crazy because everything was super hilly.

Yeah mine was built in May/June so I'd say it qualifies as one of those later half of '22 builds. It seems like they resolved a lot of the early build issues with the mavericks by that point.Yes- SLC- I know Ford did change a couple things with the rear muffler assembly on the 2022's mid-production but no idea how mine ended up just in such a sorry state- Yes I drive in snow and dirt/mud but always get the under carriage wash option.
Do you refer to it often?I shall forever refer to my anus as my rusty muffler!

Yeah I guess so and I know it was a few years ago but I have a 2016 VW Golf that I paid $24,500 for it and it doesn't have all of that cheapening that you mentioned. It even has nice details like soundproofing in the fenders, like a fuzzy coating on the wheel well liner, something similar on the door pockets so things don't clang around. Materials higher quality, etc. Paint still looks really nice 8 years later3 words .
”Hecho en Mexico”
plastics with little or no utv flex agent ,bare minimum on primers and sealers, little or no shrink tubings used for wire and hose retainment instead small wraps of black( what used to be abrasion) tape with little glue( sticky) on backside . Minimum paint thickness , little to no sound proofing , etc……
we dont Get what we dont pay for!
Well I bet the Honda is stainless steel and the Ford is not. Stainless is more exspensive so.....Man we ain't that salty ! lol. Honda still is 20 years old and is in better shape.
Do you refer to it often?
Interesting.Mine was a 5/22/2022 Build-
100% rust proofing vehicles is more important than ever nowadaysFrankly....
Most manufacturers these days are going cheap on paint quality and rust mitigation efforts throughout their vehicles.
The worst part about cutting costs by using more corrosion prone materials on the exhaust is that it’s the one part of the truck you can’t rust proofMunro talked about this cost cutting on one of their Maverick videos...
It’s nearly impossible to rust proof vehicles exhausts if you go oil based it will burn off and if you do hard coatings they will do similarI got the whole undercoating package from my dealer, but I swear I have the same amount of rust as what OP is showing.
