It isn't "impossible" to rust proof an exhaust system. If they made it out of a better grade of stainless steel alloy it could easily outlast the vehicle. But they use some low-grade stuff made to last only 5/50. That is done because of cost. Costlier material, more difficult to bend/fabricate, more difficult to weld. If it rusts away or leaks within the warranty time/distance, it will be repaired/replaced free. There are many parts that wear out or need replacing. I don't hear any coplaints about brakes, filters, tiires, batteries, wiper blades, lightbulbs, etc... that don't last forever.

What I’m saying is it’s impossible to rust proof it with something like fluid film or similar products like most people use sure using a higher quality material would fix the corrosion issue but that wasn’t the point I was making.

I wonder if the materials for the exhaust were improved after 2022. My '24 is aging about the same as my 2012 Focus has, and it's in good shape after 153k miles. They seem to be made of the same grade of stainless.

That Focus and the Maverick are very similar in quality, as they should be since they're both Ford "economy" vehicles of their day. Actually, the Focus wasn't the cheapest Ford at the time...
