Maverick EcoBoost - Whine

Hello all,

I just bought a brand new MY24 Maverick XL AWD Ecoboost. I’ve noticed that between 1,300 and 1,700 RPM, I believe the transmission (or drivetrain component) is making a high pitched whine, specifically when it’s going to a higher gear.

I am aware of the lack of insulation in this car but this doesn’t sound normal. I held the engine in neutral at the same RPM and cannot repeat the noise (not coming from the turbo).

I am posting this to see if this is just how these cars are or if anyone else is experiencing this noise with the 2.0T engine. It’s pretty loud on highway trips, sounds like morris code. Below is a link to the audio.

Sorry to hear you're having problems already. I have not noticed any such noises. Seems out of the ordinary to me. The only whining I hear is from some of our fellow club members. I'm kidding, of course.

Nepatsfan1776, I listened to your recording and couldn't hear anything odd. Perhaps the mic didn't pick it up well, or my hearing is so bad I'm missing it?

My '24 AWD Ecoboost make no weird sounds at any speed. I can hear a slight high speed clicking sound from the engine that my other vehicles haven't had, almost like tappet sound, but I believe that's the direct injection sound and is normal with these engines.

Nothing that makes me concerned.

I think I'd have the dealer have a listen. Good luck!

Agree. My 22 is silent . if You have to do the turn signal recall (or another) might as well pile this on for them to check out.

Same as OP my 22 is quiet , engine a bit noisy when cold, direct injection is noisy . No major issue with this truck in two years of ownership.
