Just came from Baja 1250 miles (now Mav has 5,500 miles) and when we start it or stop, we smell gas. It has a definite leak that was not there before. Quick inspection shows nothing in engine compartment, in depth investigation to follow. There was no “off roading”. Any thoughts? Thanks.

It shouldnt be the drilled out recall, that was before your model. The drivers side felt panel should be catching the fuel. I would pull a few of the retainers and peek to see if there is any "water mark" type stains on it. That would show drippage. If nothing back there than its up by the motor somewhere.

Look above the felt on the underside on the driver's side.

I have a hybrid but just had a fuel leak fixed. I never saw fuel on the garage floor but looked under the truck and saw a small weeping leak from the fuel line to the fuel tank. The part looked like the picture attached. The fuel leaked onto a truck part and that’s why I didn’t see a puddle. The part was back ordered but was eventually replaced and I haven’t had the problem again. This was on a 2024 Lariat.

Park it, watch for spots underneath and go from there. Let us know if/what you find.

Did you over fill it?
No, was careful not to do any topping off, but good point....thanks!

Thanks for the post, Chippermark. I will check that out. The smell seems to be strongest around the catch can, but it is hard to tell. Time to crawl under and follow the line back.

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

Thanks for the follow up.... my bad for not updating, but I think that I have it handled. It was the oil can setup, which I decided to take off after researching that these can affect the warranty issue. I wish that there was an "official" statement from Ford on these, as they DO seem to address a problem with direct injection to avoid walnut blasting the intakes down the liine.

Were you catching anything?

Might add to discussion below.
1st link showing there is a built in one already.
