I got what I paid for my 23 lariat tremor, no room for any gain on a fully equipped model anymore. Only had 1000 miles on it. Considered myself lucky.

Prolly, not. I’m almost certain once it’s in their system it’s nationwide.

There are two CarMax locations within driving distance of me, would their offer differ depending on which one I go to? One is in a larger city (Kansas City vs Springfield MO.)?

on the offer it said something along the lines of the offer being redeemable at any carmax location.

Depends on location. I’m seeing more available in my area from abandoned orders and dealer stock orders but hybrids still have mark ups.

Low profit margin for dealers on custom orders with these especially when they have been taking forever to get built.
Not everywhere. Been looking for a XL or XLT hybrid since our Maverick is now “hers.”

Got a text last Thursday from a dealer I contacted September 2023 that he had a HPR hybrid Lariat with lux pkg and cp360 that he could sell me for msrp plus $449 doc fee.

Declined it, exceeded my budget. Checked this morning no longer on dealer website.

Problem is I don't have an offer yet, CarMax won't give me an online offer, they say I have to bring it in for them to give me an offer. I've also read that offers vary based on region so my concern is that the different locations may provide different initial offers since they're in different states.

I ordered a ‘24 XL 4K in August, dealer recently called and said it will be ready in November ! Is it possible I might get mine before 2023 orders ( 23 converted to 24 )?
I was expecting it to be ready in the spring and I wasn’t planning on driving it in our salty Ontario winters, as I have a couple of winter vehicles already.
I asked him about maybe making a few bucks on this one and reordering and he said he’s not even interested in it, he has a couple of used ones and one new on the lot already. His lot is full of new F150’s and some other assorted overpriced metal.
I even put an ad on Kijiji , it’s been a week and no interest at all !
Im happy to take it, just letting others know that if where you live prices are still high and you were considering selling - maybe now’s a good time.
I stopped reading this thread on page 3, but I'll reply directly to OP. Do you have a build date?

Because I have a 24 order from July, with priority 15 and no build date yet. Took possession of a 23 Lariat hybrid last month and I love it. I have no idea what I'll do if/when I get the 24. I have two teenagers. Might keep both, sell the 23, or pass on the 24. But I between Xplan and the price protection they offered for rollovers, I'm strongly tempted to keep it one way or another.

Local dealer has 92 Mavericks on their website. All marked "special order SOLD". None otherwise available.

Next closest dealer lists 1 Maverick XLT at $33k.

Make of that what you will.

I got quotes for my 2022 Lariat AWD with 22k miles (MSRP: $34,300) in preparation for my 2023 Hybrid which should arrive in the next two weeks.

Vroom - $26,250
Carvana - $29,500
KBB - $29,900 A KBB dealer contacted me saying they would pay up to $1500 over KBB price
Carmax - Said they haven't seen enough similar vehicles to offer a price, I would need to bring it in person?? Nearest Carmax is a 2+ hours away, so I'm wondering if their price would be worth the drive.
Don’t waste your time with CarMax. 2 hours later I had the lowest bid. Sold to Carvana…

Except considering the wages UAW members are going to be taking in, new vehicles are going to be getting out of reach for many. Corporations don't reduce their profit margins, they just pass the additional costs on to the customers.
Same as $20/hr ‘living wage’ for fast food workers. Welcome $10 Big Mac👋🏻

It has to do with the area you live in… carvana and vroom were 3-4K less than carmax on mine. It’s best to try all of them if you are able.

If you do a 5 Why on our economy these days, the root cause for price hikes are more often politicians buying votes with our money than scarcity. Yes supply lines were constrained during COVID and added to the inflation but that should have been transitory like originally predicted. Printing more money and government spending is the biggest culprit. Now it's a runaway freight train with everyone just trying to catch up, which feeds the next round. PS I knew what you meant with "corporations". PS, PS Thomas Sowell is the only economist that doesn't outsmart himself.

Only inasmuch as corporations raising prices above and beyond the pace of the Actual Inflation(tm) is the inflation responsible. In the past, when inflation jumped, businesses did not ALSO report record profits. There was a better balance of increasing prices to match the rising cost in goods. This last round saw the big corps accounting for a huge excess of the rising prices beyond just a spike in costs.

If I had to guess, PART of it is that the lower end trucks have much less profit margin than the $80K monster F-150s. And, I suspect, the '22s and '23s may have even been possible loss leaders? So the '24s jumping up several thousand is more of a maybe correction? But it's still much lower than "average" and a relatively cheap, efficient truck.
I am by no means contradicting your statement but do want to add that we don't know what real inflation number is. First off, the government number is biassed. Second, it's an average. We would need to know all materials and their individual price increases to make the statement of fact. Finally, I know for certain that sometimes a company will hold prices firm even when costs increase and sometimes inflate prices even when costs go down. There is no simple formula for setting price.

No the bubble is not over yet . seems like it will be a couple of years out . you might get msrp in rural areas but wouldn't count on it .
The bubble is over... Only a fool would pay over MSRP for any new vehicle today. If Carmax and others are paying it then they will be burned... Expect their price offerings to drop quickly.. Even C8 vettes are now available at MSRP at many dealers so expect it to trickle down early... This bubble has burst even though inflation reports turned and just notched back up according to Friday reports
