I can’t get a 23 XL hybrid maverick for anything less than 6,000 over MSRP. They can sit on the lot…an XL is not a 30,000 + vehicle.

Did inflation have any part of the price increase?

if prices went from 20k through 24k that's 20% increase.....the low prices were in place to gather attention and get the mavs on the market.......ford underestimated the demand and could have started higher initially......

The price of the baseline Maverick XL had jumped from right at 20K for the '22 to right at 24K for the '24 before the strikes started. So we were going to pay more regardless of whether or not the people building it got more pay.

Besides that the UAW does not have members in the Mexican plant where Mavs are built.

Got a text last Thursday from a dealer I contacted September 2023 that he had a HPR hybrid Lariat with lux pkg and cp360 that he could sell me for msrp plus $449 doc fee.

Declined it, exceeded my budget. Checked this morning no longer on dealer website.

Just got off the phone with Maguire Ford. Put a $500 deposit on this one:

Except considering the wages UAW members are going to be taking in, new vehicles are going to be getting out of reach for many. Corporations don't reduce their profit margins, they just pass the additional costs on to the customers.

Labor is the lowest of costs of production. Lots of robots doing majority of welding, painting &assembly.

Ha! The dealer here in Florida had a 6,900 dealer add on with mostly useless services “military grade coating for rain” on the Windshield, anti-microbial treatment, and for 90 days you get get 2,500$ off a car at their lot if your new car gets totaled…and other garbage. I’m checking your dealer out!

The government is pushing for utilities to go to solar and wind. No solar and little to no wind at night to charge EV's.

For that to work on a large scale there will have to be a massive investment in storage so people can charge their EV's at night.

How much will that cost and who's going to pay for it?

If you own an ev and have solar charge it during the day .

Interesting, I'm in Allentown area and in Aug and Sept I couldn't find any dealers in 30 miles that had an exo XL with less than $5000 ADM. Grant it, I didn't show up, I just called. Thankfully just got a 24' build date of 11/13, with X-plan discount. Perhaps with the turn of cold weather and impending year end the dealers are finally giving in to the softening market that started in late Aug & Sept.

Good news overall, but a little sad as retaining a high value driving off the lot was a bit of justification in allowing the market to drive me to a "new" purchase. I had told myself never to get sucked into a new vs used vehicle again. Depreciating assets suck the big one!

the comparison is ludicrous, besides there was no 2020 Bronco. Ford eliminated the base Bronco that you used for your comparison, the comparison you needed was the 2021 Big Bend $34,695 the the 2024 model price you quoted.

The “refresh” price has been within a couple hundred bucks or less in my experience.

As a retired UAW worker I can say most members do not seem to understand economics . Job security and benifits are the most important things and reducing inflation is more impartant than raising wages . Over the years that I worked my pay would increase but my standard of living didn't . It's a snowball effect , wages go up , manufacturing costs go up, prices go up.
