Wow your story is powerful in that you’ve had such great loss, but yet you push forward. So happy to hear that your family, including your fur babies are okay. Possessions can be replaced.

I had a drunk driver hit me in my 2009 Ford Ranger and flipped it. Spun in the middle of an intersection. My coworker and friend was with me as we were coming back from having lunch. I’ll tell you my life flashed before my very eyes. What was mere seconds seems like minutes. I was amazed and how people jumped out their cars to help us. Since the top was crushed the doors wouldn’t open, but that didn’t stop Good Samaritans from using a crowbar to get us out. I walked around in shock, felt numb wasn’t even sure where I was. For a long time I had such high anxiety when I would drive. It eventually passed, but I think about that accident often when I am driving.

I have focused on the Maverick, reading, watching YouTube videos and anything else. It’s been fun learning about it and then eventually seeing what everyone has been doing with them. I finally did get mine and I have to say it’s more than I ever thought it would be. It means a lot to me and because of my experience, I feel safe in this truck. That Ford Ranger did a heck of a job protecting us and I have no doubt this Maverick will do the same.

I am happy to hear that the Maverick has been an outlet for you to keep you connected and thinking beyond the trauma that happened. It is an important part of moving past such events. You’ve had a loss, but like in my situation it could have been oh so much worse. I truly feel blessed to just be alive.

Bless you and your family.
WOW! This is an amazing story! So well stated that I feel that I have a first hand knowledge of your experiences. Thankfully, except for the post trauma, you weren't hurt and that is a great deal to be grateful over. Thank you for sharing such an influential message. God speed with your new Maverick.
PS: Glad to hear I'm not the only obsessed with YouTube "Anything Maverick".

Well first off, sorry to hear of all that damage, but happy to hear the whole family was ok. Glad you can leverage the truck to keep moving forward. God's blessing on ya @Dad , keep positive!

My quick points:
- Living in Colorado with young boys, need to get OUTSIDE and do as the Romans do here; camping, hiking, etc. Nothing is more important to me than being a dad to this little dudes nowadays, I've had my decades of selfish fun.
- Neither my slammed Civic EK, nor my slammed LS460L were well aligned with those intended activities. So I sold the Civic, ordered the Mav, and received in in early Jan.
- Intent is to create memories and adventures with my boys. That is truly why I went with the Mav, cause I didn't need another vehicle to commute and run around town.
Thank you for your words.
What you're doing is truly noble. I know you don't look at it that way. You're just doing what you should be doing, but your boys will forever remember those days!

I taught middle school for a number of years. I had a lesson where I asked my students to answer questions such as "Who won NFL Rookie of the Year in 20xx? Or, who won the World Series in 19xx? They could never answer. Then I asked, "Who taught you how to ride a bike"? "Who took you camping"? "Who took you to summer camp and picked you up"? They remembered. I told them, "Those are the people you should honor and admire."

So, you are not only in the Maverick Truck club, you're also in the building positive memories club.

We are just trend setters. My wife was into the tiny home thing when they were called cabins, she built ours herself. I was living in vans before anybody made money on youtube living in a van lol! We live a fun life. And the Maverick will make a great addition.
Sounds like you have made many wise choices!

Sorry to hear of your story... tragic...

I don't have my Maverick yet, but like Clarkdonbran said, I hope the hybrid makes me a calmer driver. I think I'm ready to slow down and enjoy my commutes to work/home more (albeit it's only a 20-30 minute drive) rather than just trying to get there and back as quickly as (safely) possible. I also know its a budget truck, but I am going for the Lariat with lux package so I am looking forward to treating myself to a little finer of a vehicle than my current car.
Did you get your Maverick? How do you like it? (I already know the answer, but here's yet another opportunity for praise!)

My Maverick means more to me than just a new truck. It has come to be a therapeutic outlet. In December of 2021, my 2018 Chevy Colorado Z71, 100 year edition caught fire while parked in my driveway and subsequently set aflame my home. All of us, including the dogs, were able to escape unharmed, but our home, while not a total loss, was deemed a major loss. It's devastating, but I cannot imagine how one might deal with a total loss or loss of life.

So, in shopping for a new vehicle, we looked at the Maverick and it has immeasurably helped me to move forward by learning as much as I can about this exciting new truck. Whenever I find myself looping that terrible early morning in my head, I turn to this forum for new ideas and thoughtful discussions. In that respect, I want to thank the members of the Maverick Truck Club, who, no doubt innocent of their therapeutic roles in my life, have done much to help my family and I through a tough time.

I'd be interested to hear from other members how the Maverick has impacted their lives for the better and not just in terms of acquiring a new car.

Again, thank you Maverick and thank you members.
Great post. I suspect that reading about, buying and — for for many, but not all of us — driving a Maverick is indeed therapeutic.

First off sorry around the truck and house. hope all going way better now.

So separated in 2021, moved 6 hrs away from where I was (ex did to as kids and 50/50) and such. once I was set up in my new place I started to look at what the hell I wanted to do from here in my life. old plans where our plans and I had to figure out my own plan. I had some ideas but 2021/22 winter I spent bunch of time figuring crap out. One thing I decided was I wish to do a lot of fishing. New town I am in is on the St Lawrence , prime fishing area 5 min away. to really do a lot of that a fishing boat looked to be in order.

My old subaru car has been amazing to me but ya was having issues and needed replacing. it was also not being trusted so did not want to go far so was limiting things a bit for me. did not want to rush to new car idea, so keep it running. So based on this and want of a boat at some point for me, I start car shopping. Friend had told me about mavrick and was excited about it in late 2021. After bunch of looking the mavrick just kept coming up as a relatively cheep tow rig that would work as a daily driver and also work for motorcycles and such (riding for years kept the bikes I had). so Feb 5th 2022 ordered one up as part of my future plans.

Well it took a flipping year , and moved to a 2023 but I picked up my maverick Feb 2nd built out how I wanted it in in ciber orange, xlt, fx4, 360, tow. So only been a few weeks. the thing to me is its a milestone, something that says my plan is happening and i may very well be having a boat soon enough. not been depressed or anything, been in overall good modes but getting that yellow school bus in the driveway just been a high to me. knowing i am making it work and I am getting where I want to go. Next is saving up for a fishing boat. Kids love fishing already so cant wait to get them going in a boat. want a aluminum boat that can also be used to pull inflatables and such so its not just fishing but fun stuff for the kids and such. but ya this truck is more then just a truck to me, its a path forward got me.

Also thinking about planning a trip to deals gap USA . tow down in October when chilly here but warm there for a week of riding. been years since i have done that but cheep vacation and truck is reliable so i can plan stuff out. wooo

Sorry you had to go through that, i can only imagine.

My Maverick relaxes me. When I am bummed or stressed, going on a drive alone makes things better.

Nothing compared to what you went through but I had some health issues last year and reading about the Maverick was good therapy to get my mind off it.

This truck has meant a lot for me because it is mine and what I picked out for me . Since 1989 I have had a company car or a sensible average car because of the amount of driving I would do, About 45k miles a year. Now retired from Field service, but working IT for a local school. I do about 6k miles a year. I enjoy every minute i drive it and don't have to fight the wife to drive her Jeep Gladiator. I ate drank and slept jeep, but now I have lost interest in it, because the Mav has as many mods and things you can do to make it your own and a joy to drive.

you will drive calmer, with this hybrid I am driving off much slower at lights, cruising the speed limit. You will be challenging yourself to see if you can beat the last MPG you got every trip.

It's all relative, right? Heard a long time ago that if everyone tossed their problems into a huge pit, we would probably just retrieve our own. Your issues were indeed important to you. I'm glad to hear the small joy of the Maverick helped.

Exactly. With the hybrid brake coach as a mentor, I transfer my calmer driving habits to our other vehicle. Drives my lead-footed wife, nuts, but so be it. I've seen too many crazy drivers and too many senseless 'accidents' lately .
