The issue with using anti-seize, or any lubricant for that matter, on wheel studs is that it changes the coefficient of friction. When you use a lubricant, the torque required to acheive the required axial torque is much lower. It is simpler from a manufacturing standpoint to standardize and give a value for "clean, dry threads".

If you want to play around with the calculator, here you go:

Torque Calculator with lube

I try not to allow anyone else to do maintenance on my vehicles, but this past year, I had lots of time constraints due to work. Shops should certainly be using "torque sticks" if using an impact wrench, and a calibrated torque wrench to install wheels.

I know my neighbors certainly watched me through the window thinking I was a weirdo when I wirebrushed all of the surface rust off the rotors and gave the faying surfaces a coat of rust inhibiting spray every time I rotated my tires.
That all may be true, but I have never had an issue with it. I started buttering up the mating flanges after I had an 1988 daytona shelby that the rear wheels would not come off for a brake job. I beat on the back sides with a rubber mallet as I was rotating them. Still wouldent budge. I ended up loosely installing the lug nuts and running it up and down the driveway a few times to break them free. After cleaning off all corrosion so the wheels would slip on easily, I started adding it to mating flanges after that. Not on steel wheels, only steel rotors and alloy wheels because of the dissimilar corrosion. I dont sock my wheels on with an impact. I run em on snug then tighten by hand. Never used a torque wrench on a lug nut, never lost a wheel either.

I bought this but had to return it twice because kept arriving with broken tabs. The organizer is boxed with no packing and placed into a non-padded shipping bag. Finally, the third one I received was delivered unharmed. I elected for the all-black rubber pads vs. pads that were color-lined.

I am liking the organizer and would buy again just knowing that a return or two may be in the works to get a working product.
Good hunting. I've been using one of these for the past several months and am happy with the result of keeping my stuff organized and easy to find. My Maverick IS my environment for part of the time and I like it calm and organized. This unit does the job.

Here's a quick question for which I hope has a quick and simple answer. I like to carry a small tool kit with any vehicle I have and through the years have noticed metric sizes sticking its head through. When I put my bed cover on, I needed a 9/16 socket and a 10 MM wrench or socket.
Must I carry both US and metric tools or just one of those along with a pair of Vise Grips?

Finally finished (I think) with any mods/addons with my Mav. Friday had the perimeter plus alarm installed. Other addons include floor liners, center console trays, cubby drawer, window ventshades, tailgate letters, mud flaps, AVS Bugdeflector hood shield, tailgate assist, led backup bulbs, doorsill protectors and a cross grill led lightbar (makes it look like the front of the Lightning).

If they are the forward ones, You clamp those onto the bed pinch weld on both sides as a safety in case the forward clamps let go when your driving. It will likely never happen, but this keeps the company lawyers happy.
Ooooh. Lol ok i see now. Thanks!

One of my many projects is the bed lighting. I have had this kit in its box for about 7 months now waiting on this truck. This is a pretty much plug n play kit. Your wiring is red to red, black to black on the Flex bed plug in. $27 from evilbay. The hardest part is going to be feeding the wires into the bed box to hide them.

Of course its 40° out now and the LEDs wont uncoil. So my eureka moment was to tape the strips up on the wall in my dining room. I am hoping that the warmth of the house will help straighten them out over the next few days.

I'd carry both. Harbor Freight has a combo pack of both metric and SAE wrenches in a convenient holder. One side holds the metric, the other the SAE. Just flip it over to choose.

UPDATE: Harbor Freight also has a good selection of tool kits that would fit nicely in the Maverick (or any other vehicle). These are not professional grade, but good enough for roadside fix-its. I think the sale ends today.

Some metric and SAE also line up. For instance 13mm and 1/2" are close enough to be used interchangably.

Thank you for all of the great information. I have been waiting for a more elegant solution than the unistrut approach for the bed tie down rails. I'm having an issue finding the airline track on the cargo control website. Do you have to contact them directly via email for phone with a part number, or do they have an online store I'm missing?

Heres todays how to for the novice. Maverick decal letters. Decals on a car arent just peel and stick. After washing and drying the area where the letters go, you put a "few" drops of soapy water in a spray bottle. You spray where the letters go, then peel and set them in place. This allows you to slide them around to get them where you want them. When they are where you want them, then you press down on them gently with a paper towel to wick out the water. I went with reflective black.

I was scared 💩less doing the tailgate letters, the soapy water made it much easier.
Is that iconic silver?

I went with black matte on the tailgate letters and just realized that we’ve got twins. Iconic silver XLT, but fraternal not identical, EB and hybrid
