my 2025 Lobo build started Feb 24 and wondering if there will be a 25% Tariff since it will be shipped this month (March 2025)?
if so, Ford can shove this vehicle.
Ironically, I will then buy the Santa Cruze XRT(Korean) built in Alabama.
Can these American companies quit penny pinching and just build in the USA? methinks an American Worker would be better suited to make it as well! TY
If you're serious about your question, ask your dealer if your order included price protection in the agreement and does it cover tariffs? My 2023 went up $400 on price adjustments alone between when I ordered and delivered but the dealer honored the original price from when I ordered. Not sure if the reservation deposit played into them having to honor it.

Interesting question!

Heres my opinion: You can either build in US or Mexico. > In the US I would imagine the wages workers would be paid would not be up to par, and would cause a decrease in quality, and a demand in pay raises. >> In mexico the wage for workers is probably on par if not greater pay compared to other jobs in the area, therefore producing a quality product and keeping workers happy.

*This is just a very simple surface level, opinion that I imagine in my head. By no way is it actually true, nor have I researched any further than my imaginative theory. Wouldnt mind seeing others opinions on this.

Your first amendment rights don’t extend to an Internet forum.

This isn’t a political site period, we welcome none of it.

BUT I can see you’ll only be stopping by for a moment.

Supposedly Tarrifs go into effect tonight at midnight (March 4th)...

As of today, MXN to USD hasn't moved (nor has it since June). People with the money know... But hey... let's have yet another thread on the topic... :ontheloo:

well, if the full 25% happens in Mexico, I'm sure 10k people will be heading southbound shortly afterwards...

In a nutshell
Wages
In the United States, the average wage in manufacturing was $24.55 per hour in January 2022, while in Mexico it was $2.80 per hour in November 2021.
Benefits
In Mexico, salaries include benefits like paid time off, profit-sharing, and end-of-year bonuses.
Work week
Mexico has a 48-hour work week, while the United States has a 40-hour work week.

Ford bumped up the MSRP a few hundred dollars on the 2025 already and Fairley has said that tariffs would mean higher prices,so it's almost guaranteed that the Maverick will get more expensive. Price protection on your order is entirely up to the dealer, and I'd guess that we're going to see more of them not honoring price protection with skyrocketing costs.

You should be fine. As for the last comment. Yes they can. That is the whole
Purpose as stated by the White House. These are used as leverage and nothing more.
in fact just this week Honda said they are moving production from Mexico back to the USA.
So depending on what you think is the goal. Some would say that’s already win for the USA. More jobs for the people more taxes for the gov.

You haven’t spent time in Detroit have you. Wages have nothing to do with quality. Being from Michigan I can tell you those jobs draw as many or more workers that have zero intention of building a good product. They want the over paid jobs.
Yes those jobs paid crazy amounts of money in this state. Almost everyone calls them generous motors and ford and Chrysler pay basically the same.
