Get a Garmin.
The built in Nav is the dumbest I have ever seen. The voice recognition sucks. My wife says it's because the truck was built in Mexico I need to do the voice commands in Spanish. I'm beginning to believe her.
For instance, the other day we went to Amana IA. Look on a map. South of Vinton, it had me go west on 30. You go EAST on 30, then south. Just one of many times it has screwed up. You need to know where you're going before you get in the truck. I just put my Garmin in the cubby over the screens. It is a REAL GPS.
Good thing it gets great gas mileage, because you will put on a lot of extra miles following the Nav.

If your truck has Android/Apple Auto your world would be better if you plugged in your phone and used Google/Apple maps. It's one extra step but SOooo worth it.

while it's possible to do over the air updates it can take up to a hour and the vehcile has to be on, usb method is faster/easier if you have a drive big enough, at least 12G. check youtube for the process.
or get a teenager to do it

If I'm correct the Maverick doesn't have a built in nav system. You have to use your phone for maps and nav.
If I'm wrong sorry.

Thanks, Slingshot! I gotta laugh at your post. I am "dumb and happy," living in the 19th century, with my first-generation Garmin nuvi 42LM. The lady on there is the smartest person in the world. Another stream on this forum is entitled "More Blue Tooth Woes." I don't even know what blue teeth are, but I apparently am not missing much. Thanks again for your words of wisdom. There is something to be said for dumb and happy.

Lariat Lux with both 360 packages. All the toys except a the sun roof. I have a RAV4 with a sun roof, moon roof, sky roof, what ever you want to call it. Worthless. Will probably be the first thing to break or leak.
I had a 1966 Beetle with a hand cranked sun roof. $99 extra. Now they're a $1000 or more.

Hmmm... That sounds like the world's most horrible luxury feature. I thought that auto-makers finally wised up by ditching it and going with android auto / other external solutions.

Built in Nav was antiquated compared to stand alone units and phones the day it came available. Always horribly implemented. Sorry to hear lariat owners have to deal with the useless bloatware.

I've been happily using it since 2010 and can't be bothered with adding another device to such an uncomplicated function. Ad free btw, so if you're happy with your phone tracking everything you do great or waste more money on a stand alone device that what, has more colors.

Ummm... you do infact pay for it in the price of the car. For the majority it's just redundant tech most likely to be out of date and crappier experience compared to other available options.

Tracking is good example of why not to have it built in also. Your maverick is sending a ton of tracking data back to Ford by default regradless of you configuration, unless you manually disconnect the hardware. At least with a phone I have a mild choice and or better access to settings to change it.

I'd rather they abandon it. Maybe even think about not adding GPS hardware in the vehicles to save cost with no customer facing reason. But that ship has sailed sadly, they are willing to spend on it to monetize you. Beyond that Plate readers, traffic cams, credit cards, store camera, ring doorbell cams, home internet use. It takes a monumental effort to truly not be tracked, so yeah most of us are OK with the trying to reign it in to just the phone. Then we only have one place to disable it.
