while it's possible to do over the air updates it can take up to a hour and the vehcile has to be on, usb method is faster/easier if you have a drive big enough, at least 12G. check youtube for the process. How do I install the map update?
Thanks, Slingshot! I gotta laugh at your post. I am "dumb and happy," living in the 19th century, with my first-generation Garmin nuvi 42LM. The lady on there is the smartest person in the world. Another stream on this forum is entitled "More Blue Tooth Woes." I don't even know what blue teeth are, but I apparently am not missing much. Thanks again for your words of wisdom. There is something to be said for dumb and happy.Get a Garmin.
The built in Nav is the dumbest I have ever seen. The voice recognition sucks. My wife says it's because the truck was built in Mexico I need to do the voice commands in Spanish. I'm beginning to believe her.
For instance, the other day we went to Amana IA. Look on a map. South of Vinton, it had me go west on 30. You go EAST on 30, then south. Just one of many times it has screwed up. You need to know where you're going before you get in the truck. I just put my Garmin in the cubby over the screens. It is a REAL GPS.
Good thing it gets great gas mileage, because you will put on a lot of extra miles following the Nav.
Some trims DO have built in nav.If I'm correct the Maverick doesn't have a built in nav system. You have to use your phone for maps and nav.
If I'm wrong sorry.

Hmmm... That sounds like the world's most horrible luxury feature. I thought that auto-makers finally wised up by ditching it and going with android auto / other external solutions.only lariats with sync 3
I've been happily using it since 2010 and can't be bothered with adding another device to such an uncomplicated function. Ad free btw, so if you're happy with your phone tracking everything you do great or waste more money on a stand alone device that what, has more colors.Hmmm... Built in Nav was antiquated compared to stand alone units and phones the day it came available. Always horribly implemented. Sorry to hear lariat owners have to deal with the useless bloatware.
Ummm... you do infact pay for it in the price of the car. For the majority it's just redundant tech most likely to be out of date and crappier experience compared to other available options.I've been happily using it since 2010 and can't be bothered with adding another device to such an uncomplicated function.
