I really don’t like the idea of combining the turn signal with the brake/taillights.

I feel the amber turn signal stands out much better.

Be cool if @Vleds offered this for the Maverick. I may have to make my own harness. They are priced a little high in my opinion.

Don't care for the amber myself, but imagine many like yourself do. Be sure to post pics if you do make the change - would be curious to see it. Good Luck!

I think you'd be better off with an aftermarket taillight set, with Amber turn signals. You'd have to modify your existing lens to be amber or replace/rewire the reverse light assembly to flash amber. Thats a lot of work, and would definitely not be DOT Legal.

It's a neat idea, except for two fundamental issues:
  1. People reverse and turn at the same time.
  2. Mavericks don't have a discrete turn signal. Brake and turn are the same wire.

Yeah, that’s a good point. I’m sure anyone would come to a stop and indicate before reversing.

Most people would know what is happening but lowest common denominator.

The wiring would be a non starter.

Oh well, this is why I like these forums. Collaboration as to why it would or wouldn’t work.

I like this idea. I seriously dislike the brake as turn signal too. I have an -idea- for a solution but don’t have the skill to fab it myself… maybe someone with more wiring/pinning-depinning expertise can help. My thinking is to use the reverse light slot for the turn signal.

Swap the white reverse bulb for an amber bulb,

rewire the power turn signal wire to the previous reverse wire

relocate the reverse light somewhere else. I believe Diode dynamics makes pods that mount under the back bumper that can serve this purpose. I’ve also seen someone make cutout brackets for the corners of the back bumper, could also plop some reverse LEDs into these

Attaching professional mockups of what I’m picturing

From what I understand the issue with the Maverick is it uses the same wiring for turn signals and brake lights.

Vleds advised that Maverick also uses a digital signal to initiate the command.

For this reason the “turn signal prompt ” can’t be separated from the wiring.

I was hopeful for a different outcome but don’t think it’s feasible

Didn’t know that. Hmm.

what about getting the turn signal trigger off of the trailer harness?

Or (in theory) even running a wire from the front turn signals all the way to the back?

the brake light would still blink but you’d also have an amber blinker, which I would be ok with

I did think about that but just think it would be to distracting. It would take away from the reason for doing it.

Probably send trailer alerts to the dash as well.

Maybe there is a Forscan fix to change it from the brake lights but I’m doubtful

Silly Murricans like the "cleaner" look of all red on the back.

But after decades of driving and living 9+ years on other continents, amber is absolutely superior for turn signals. Other drivers' brains register immediately the difference between turning and "Oh now they're braking too!"

So after some thought I came up with a solution I’m happy with.

I used the same dynamic startup hood led I used on the front. I ordered a smaller one which fits perfectly in the groove above the rear window.

I ran some wiring from my front turn signal connectors to the left rear wheel well.

From there I ran the wiring up to the left bed grommet and fed the wiring under the plastic cap to the top of the rear window.

I’ve been running this for about a month and no issues. The led lights can be run in any colour but I chose red to mimic the tail lights.

Products used came to about $130.

It's probably just me, but I see/hear no video or sound. Apologies to everyone, it was my darn browser. MS Edge sucks sometimes. The only problem is now that I have seen this, I have something else to add in order to protect my truck's a$$

Now the rear matches the front.
