Hey someone finally made a cover. Long posts on this area under truck behind driver rear wheel I made my own with galvanized sheet metal painted with rust oleum paint Then covered with fluid film . Good to see you can buy one now . I recommend after install remove driver side cubby in bed and spray whole area with fluid film .

According to the Amazon specs, they are aluminum. Probably to avoid melting from the exhaust.

I wish they honestly would have used 1/8" or 3/16" ABS plastic for these panels, more in order to have less parts under the vehicle that are prone to rust possibly.

Myself personally, I will probably purchase this. But I know I would install some foam tape like I have laying around, that's a half inch thick where these panels rest on other metal to avoid adding new rattles or noises to the truck.

We considered ABS material at first, but the high temperatures near the exhaust pipe could pose some issues, so we ultimately decided to use aluminum.

I don't think there has been an "official" announcement yet - they were just found early. Usually when these products come out there is a thread with a discount offered and a note that for anyone who has already bought them they can receive the discount retroactively. Probably has to do with making sure Amazon's warehouses are stocked. Hopefully same thing will happen here.

I didn't catch the angle that picture was from but I see it now. I had envisioned the angled part of the cover went up behind the wheelwell liner. This is a little different with the gap and how it tucks up. Well, if it doesn't look like it will cover well I'll send it back. Hopefully once someone (or I) install it, will have a better idea.

The day I picked up my truck I was under there to check the spare and saw that big open area, and said that's where all the crap is going, look at the older trucks on the road they all rust around wheel wells you would think ford would cover that area, but they don't care because it takes years for rust to develop and your warranty is expired. My FX4 will never be off road but will see NY winters with snow and salt will get in there, these covers look like they cover that big hole, am in , was going to make something but never got around to it.
I think they're a little overpriced wish they were in the 50/60$ range.
