Lowered on Silvers Coilovers w/ swifts

I'm 30 inches from ground to fender on the front and back; about 2 fingers between tire and fender.
Contemplating on going lower. Haven't any issues with the current height. How low is your Mav?

Standard coils or superlow

Im almost certain those are the standards. Im running standards at about the same height and could easily lower it to the point of rubbing without the need for superlows

Yup, mine are standards. And yes, there is plenty more to go lower if I want to. I’m contemplating another half inch. I changed my oil the other day and under carriage looks fine, but the top end of one of my fender liners, is torn. I love the ride of the silvers and swifts. No complaints…

One quick question..did you need adjustable rear toe arms?

there were no adjustments that I needed to make in the rear

I finally got my Silvers kit finished-

I called them and asked if they could hook me up with a set of springs that rode softer. They came up with a custom set that's a little longer, but supposed to ride better.

I just got home from an hour long test, and I'm impressed.

It rides/handles great!

I rotated my wheels and did an oil change the other day. No scrapes that I can see on the under carriage, but one of my fender liners does have a hole.

I'll measure it next time I have it on the operating table.

I can still go a little bit lower on the rear, if I remove the adjustment collars from the coil springs. But then I'd have to remove felt in the front to get it level.

There's also a wire bundle behind the felt that can be re routed, if I remember correctly.

Not sure since I haven't removed the felt yet.


I've already been getting stares and comments. I've got old injuries and arthritis. I move slow, and take a few days to recover after turning a wrench.

After I installed the rear I drove it around for a few days. Had one guy come up to me and say "There's no way you've got it loaded with bricks".

How would you compair the ride with stock as far as comfort? I want the look but would like a smooth ride also.

I find my standard springs fairly harsh compared to stock ride. I consider it the price I pay to look good. I've heard the swift springs make a fairly big difference but I can't personally comment on them

It takes quite a bit of adjustment to get a decent ride, with a coilover kit.

I adjusted spring preload to the recommended setting on the front struts, but had to keep adding preload (adjusted by turning locking collars to compress the spring) to get it to stop clunking sounds from the spring shifting around when hitting bumps or hard cornering.

I think I test drove, then made adjustments at least half a dozen times.

Once I finally got the noises stopped, I set the shock adjustment to 0 for the softest ride, but it bucked and bounced like crazy over washboard whoop tee doo's.

I finally settled on 4 clicks towards "firm" and I think it rides pretty good. I like to keep my tires aired up, because I don't like tire roll when hitting the corners fast. Some folks like to air down with a firm suspension to help it ride softer, but I don't think it needs to be any softer.

I personally believe, it's a bad idea to let a shop install a coilover kit. They'll throw it together, and then you'll be taking it back, complaining about noise, and bouncy ride. You're at their mercy on what to do about it...

Totally different story with just a spring kit, since you're stuck with how it rides, other than changing springs.
