Truth be told, they may not ever be used. But I'd rather have them if I need extra tie downs, than 4 holes in the bed.

For sure. The most useless thing is a truck bed without places to tie stuff and hook stuff all over it.

The Stainless loop may not rust but the Galvanic corrosion you just put in to play will corrode the mounting nut from the inside out. 2 dissimilar metals will speed up this corrosion.

A little Never-Seez is required on the rusty Oregon Coast. I prefer a hook and eye for my tie down method. Some day my Maverick will come...

Thanks for the post, bought when you first posted the info. Drilled slots into factory dibl, great mod on the cheap. Saved me from buying our making bed rail system. Factory holes, 4 on each bedside.

How did you know where to drill?
Could you share additional details such as whether you removed the dibl side panels etc.
