Wondering what the "louver-like" slots are above/behind the rear view mirror (black) and between the sunglasses holder and the interior overhead lights (grey) -- circled in red in the photo...

My guess would be hands-free microphones? My current Honda has something similar but just one in the middle.

Maverick microphone is on the upper driver's A-pillar.

More they're there to provide some cooling to the electronic assemblies like the dome lights, remote transceiver, and image processing module. There's also an interior humidity/temp sensor.

Right, forgot about the new safety equipment in there.

Could be ventilation for electronics.

I love my Maverick. But if they had an electronically dumbed down version, No screen, no automatic anything. Maybe even with hand cranked windows and rubber floor mats,
I would trade down.
It’s not quite yet “your basic truck”.

I saw one like that on The Flintstones.

The Maverick is my first AWD vehicle and the first with an automatic temperature control.
Personally I do not like the ATC or all the safety electronics. I had a 2018 Escape S. Loved the simplicity of it. No auto start stop. No ATC. No automatic braking. No blind spot monitoring. It didn't turn the headlights on to the auto position when I started it. I didn't have the annoying seat occupation image show up on the instrument cluster when I started it. I find all the automatic stuff very annoying and unnecessary. I even had a CD player in the Escape. Also in my Escape I could still plug a flash drive in my USB in place of the CD player and scroll through the song selections WITHOUT SOME #$@! MOTION BLOCK PREVENTING ME FROM CHANGING SONGS while driving. Still going to write Ford a letter telling them how stupid it is and how furious it makes me. I will not buy another car with that idiotic feature.
