Rear view mirror too small and low

Ford Taurus sedan and Mercury Sable station wagon both around 2000's I never saw this ability.
Early 90's Mercury Tracer (really Mazda 323) did not. 2005 Rav4 doesn't.

Perhaps a truck thing?

Almost very vehicle I've had including my cheap ass Toyota Yaris, had a dual adjustable rear view mirror arm.

My wife's 2016 base Ford Escape has it.

50s and 60's vehicles maybe not so much.

Huh - never used or needed so never noticed, must have been in the blind spot behind mirror.
At least it wasn't an issue of falling ceiling hiding it.

Is this not a normal design on most makes? Every Ford I've owned since the early eighties had the mirror mounted like this.

well ive not had a new car since 2002 and that lexus did not have this feature my 2013 ford F150 didnt either so I never even assumed it was a thing lol.

That's pretty odd that your 2013 F150 didn't have a mirror like this. All 2013 OEM F150 mirrors I can find on Ebay are like the one on the Maverick.

I know right?

I mean technically, I don't recall checking for it ever as the mirror on that was never "in the way" like the mavericks was... but I had a Mirror/Dash camera w/a reverse camera screen built into it setup clipped to the OE mirror.. I cant imagine I wouldnt have noticed that feature with the many times i had that setup on and off when installing and trouble shooting it....

Im not familiar with models/specs of the F150's but that truck was SUPER basic bare bones.. maybe a 'fleet spec' of some type? It had NUTHIN, but an am/fm radio, solid AC, no mats, plastic floor liner, only non OE part on it was a molded urethane/plastic bed liner. It was originally owned by the AZ State Dept of Ag. purch. new in 2013 they sold it in late 2017, We bought it from carmax in Jan 2018. The bed had def. been resprayed. but it ran well drove straight and smooth, great power.
