Maverick NHTSAS updated paperwork states a fix in April. Since this issue has been know at minimum since ~mid/2024 with recall following shortly after my bets are they are working on a hardware solution.

I find it hard to believe that it takes them with April timing 8 months to develop a software patch. This will be a hardware fix. They probably tried a bunch of patches and none of them were reliable enough.
I agree with you.
It would seem, if the Lariat with the Sync system, does not have the back up camera problem. The solution seems obvious.
It really isn't about how fix the problem. Ford has a known tested solution.
It's how much Ford is willing spend on fixing the problem.

So far the costs keep adding up.

100% - they are likely in process of sourcing parts for the fix and stack $500 / recalled vehicle on top of the fine, unsold inventory and who know what else.

it all aligns

I agree, we all shop to get the best price on groceries and everyday items. So why wouldn't a manufacturer look into the best price to fix an issue as well as the best fix for that issue.

I would rather wait and have Ford fix the issue than like another manufacturer with similar backup camera issues had that there fix is still not working 3 years later.

Like I said. Ford knows the best fix. It already works in the lariats

If things like this recall didn't exist, I'd feel bad that you guys would have nothing to speculate about.

Yes the maverick has some recall stuff but overall it’s very minimal. In fact so much so that all 4 of the ones I know about only one has even had a single recall done. Mine nope. The twin my friend bought in the same delivery as mine nope, my uncles 22 one recall update, and my buddies 23 has had none done. Annoying sure but they seem to be all in all able to have a decent drivetrain to at least not leave you stranded.

So is the fix the bigger screen and updated software? That would be cool! (I like the bigger screen).
Didn't the 22 to 24 Lariats have the same size screen as the XL and the XLT? Just a different operating system being sync?

Wait second thought that has to be fake news. Hondas never break or have any issues. Never.
not as often,OTH the bear hunters seem to be pretty hard on the Toyotas, the fords and Chevys are easy to repair and the old beaters are easy to keep going. In the same vein I have seen Ford people buy a Chevy and have nothing but trouble and vice versa( some people can demolish an anvil with a feather-i always watch the 'firewallers" they burn more gas and have more trouble then anyone..

I know exactly what's going to happen, because I am an expert in everything. And I have secret agents in Ford Engineering and in Jim Farley's office.

  • They are going to fix it soon.
  • Or they are going to fix it later.
  • Or they are not going to fix it at all.
  • It will be a software fix.
  • Or it will be a hardware fix.
  • Or they will buy back 300,000 Mavericks
  • Or maybe everyone will just forget about it.
  • Or maybe the government workers overseeing recalls have already been fired.
There. I guarantee you I know the exact answer!
or turn your head and use the mirrors never back into the street( sooner or later the consumer will bear the burnt of the blame)

Replace Ford with Honda, and Maverick for Ridgeline and you'd be on topic.

Magna International makes the cameras for Ford and Panasonic makes the cameras for Honda.

Maybe they should both use GoPro?
