I agree with you.Maverick NHTSAS updated paperwork states a fix in April. Since this issue has been know at minimum since ~mid/2024 with recall following shortly after my bets are they are working on a hardware solution.
I find it hard to believe that it takes them with April timing 8 months to develop a software patch. This will be a hardware fix. They probably tried a bunch of patches and none of them were reliable enough.
It would seem, if the Lariat with the Sync system, does not have the back up camera problem. The solution seems obvious.
It really isn't about how fix the problem. Ford has a known tested solution.
It's how much Ford is willing spend on fixing the problem.
So far the costs keep adding up.
