After watching this video, I’m thinking I might drop from my 19” wheels to 17” wheels and get a set of 235/70R17

70s are too wide. They stick out of the sides unless you are adding the flares. Go with 245/65R17. Clears the wheel wells plastic and gives you a full inch of height.
Tires? Look into the Continental Terrain ATs. Best on road wet and dry performance and ready for some off road.
My two cents.

70 is not the width, it is the aspect ratio, which translates to height
245 is the width, which is wider than 235
The 245/65R17 that you are suggesting are 0.4” wider and 0.42” shorter than the 235/70R17 that I have been considering, so the tires you are suggesting would stick out more.

Huh. Saw a YouTube video where 70s were sticking out like a sore thumb while 65s were not.
Don't believe everything you see, I guess.
Thanks for the correction and education.

I got stock height (for now) and 245 /65 R17 Cooper Discoverer Road + Trail AT and no rubbing. I think it looks pretty good, but I would like to do a 2 inch Eibach spring lift once I know Eibach has tested and approved a lift kit for the 25 AWD hybrid.

Yeah... definitely don't.... Tire sizes/ratios use 'new math'... Just try calculating for offsets on rims (necessary if putting Escape/Focus/Volvo wheels on an XL for instance)...that works in reverse in terms of how we might think as well... 🤔
Here is a very useful link for understanding tire sizes.. the Size Compare tab is especially useful for comparing to stock..

Here is what 245/60 R18 looks on the front of mine:

(no doubt a bit of poking out no? would be even more pronounced if I had a knobby AT tire)

Also bear in mind that the rear track of the Maverick is slightly narrower than the front track. So you might have seen rear photos that don't show any noticeable poke with wider tires and lower aspect rations..

Folks that race Volvos will utilize 5mm spaces to bring the rears out a bit more without having to result to longer wheel studs... Good option to correct a bit of the rear to front track difference of a Maverick as well.
