I’m looking for some recommendations on anything people have found to be of quality and use for work. I’m a window cleaner and have been searching around for some bed storage ideas to hold my equipment so it’s not constantly sliding around in the bed or freely hanging over the edges - DIY solutions are welcomed as well. Nothing I’ve seen online really fits what I’m looking for and if it did, it’s been outrageous prices. I’m hoping someone here has tried and tested some bed storage/organization ideas for their own tools and equipment that they feel has made their jobs more organized and efficient. I don’t have a lot of tools to store, just some bins for water/towels and solutions along with a few extension poles.
Currently I just have a backrack and toolbox installed behind the rear window and a 2x10 board installed in the slots for a bed divider towards the tail end of the bed - works okay for now but the board isn’t a snug fit so it wobbles around in those slots. I also have the factory installed side rails with adjustable tie downs but haven’t figured out a good way to utilize them. It’s not a huge issue either but I’d like it to look a little more professional than just a standard 2x10 board in my truck bed. I would like something to tie down the extension poles, maybe separate cubby’s to keep water, wet/dry towels and tools separated from one another and not able to blow or slide around while driving. Any ideas or thoughts are welcomed, I’m just trying to brainstorm some better solutions with the hope someone else has built/bought something they feel works well for them. Thanks in advance for insight!

I got this sliding bed divider from Ford. I'm very happy with it. You could probably get 20 or 25% off, if you wait for the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales. :like:

That looks awesome, great use of those side rails that I’ve yet to find a use for lol. I’ve always been hesitant about the products Ford offers, mainly because of cost, but the pictures they post don’t give a great idea of how it’ll actually look installed in person. I appreciate the photos, I’ll definitely give that divider more consideration now!

Does the divider come out easily? I just added another set of the sliding tie/down anchors that you have towards the back and I had to unscrew the side rails to install it. Is there a quick release with this divider. Thanks in advance for the answer, I too am liking it now that I see it installed on an actual truck.

The divider has quick releases on each side and should theoretically pop off easily. I found it quite difficult to get on and required significant finger strength to get it to go in. I haven't taken it off since I installed it. 😬

I run a harbor freight adjustable load bar with a couple of Lowes 27 gallon totes. Totes are routinely on sale for $10-12 and I can stack them when one is empty.

I cut a piece of plywood to sit over the wheelwells and put some Husky storage tubs on em for small items, bigger items in the Rough Country storage bin. The plywood fits right against the storage bin so it doesn't shift around but I can screw it to the beveled 2x4 underneath it if needed. Tacked a furing strip on the edge for a lip and to strengthen it.

I really don't care for Tonneau covers. I feel they are in the way when I need to put treasures in the bed. My no/ low cost solution is an old Igloo ice chest. Think this is a 120 quart. Initially I strapped in length wise and used some 2x6 blocks to hold it in place. It had plastic latches that didn't last long. Those were replaced with the metal ones with hinges. I then found it more convenient turned cross-wise against the tail gate, and with it strapped down, you can't open the latches when the tail gate is closed. So I started working on security as straps are easily cut. It may be hard to see in my expert photos, but I used some strap steel to make attachments to each chest handle and hooked to the lower rear tie down points. The right side is hooked and the left side is straight with a small pad lock. With the tail gate up and locked, you can't open the chest nor can it be removed. I have to open the gate enough to unlatch the chest to put stuff in it. Relatch the lid, shut the gate and it's secure. The small lock allows the chest to be removed in about a minute. Open the gate pull the chest back providing a little slack to the straps, pull the left one out of the tie down. With left side free you can unhook the right side, chest can be removed. Solved my storage issue.

That is screwed into a 2x4 sitting in that rear divider space, also screwed into a couple other 2x4 blocks on the front so it sits level and doesn't rock.

Spaced so a common 2 gal fuel container can sit there on back with door closed. Also the existing screw holes in back made it happen anyway.

Handles on the sides. If full bed is required - it is removable with the attached divider - slowly since it needs to go up a bit before it can spin enough to clear the cover rails (hoping that's a theft deterrent if required). Loaded heavy need help, if not then by myself.

Water resistant/proof if I had to leave bed cover open in the rain.

Sits under the cover just fine, bed cover supports don't flap & hit it.
Space under it for flattish items that aren't too wide, or long. (guess I could have used short blocks on back side that still went into the divider indents but left the center clear)
And as shown, enough space for the netting, and to get into bed side cubbies.
