LOBO ST? Common Sense !!!

Why ( ? ) it seems to me the Maverick is the greatest thing for Ford these days !!! Why ( ? ) mess with a good thing for something called LOBO ST ( ? ) Back in the good ole days the Volkswagen did not change over some time. This is of all thing is mostly " Common Sense. " So why ( ? ) the vehicle was economically in the right place at the right time !!! Who knew ( ? )

Maverick was more successful than Ford anticipated. F-150 sales are stagnant, and Ranger is down substantially. They need a subtle way to push people up to Ranger and hopefully F-150. One way to do this is to try and make the Maverick look less appealing, then when it's sitting next to a Ranger on the lot that leap isn't so tough.

I think you're right with those hideous wheels, but the ugly painted grill cover I bet they force on every trim unfortunately.

This is true but for the most part, the other 2025 models will look very similar. Maybe different wheels, maybe less paint match but that's it. They will not make 3 or 4 different front ends for XL, XLT, LARIAT and the LOBO package. The lobo package is going to be something like the tremor is now. IT will not be a trim, it will be a package.

I really think the front end would look much better with a mesh type grill. There are definitely a few subtle improvements they can still make but it still isn't going to look all that great IMO.

If this is actually the new face of the Maverick, it's nothing new to the automotive world. There are times when designers just run amok and ruin a good thing. And the automotive public and press are left scratching their heads and asking "why?".

That said, the answer to the OP's "why?" is because Ford is in the business of making money, and you make money by more expensive variants. As in the many forms and trims of the Mustang. You can buy a $300,000 new car from Ford today with the name "Mustang". Because somebody will pay for it.
